Way too much over reaction after last night
We were 1 for 9 from the free throw line at one point . We couldn’t make open shots and they were unconscious
First game against legit comp and our guys played tentatively
Kiss has to play with more confidence and must look to score more. The 2 cannot be a guy that is not looking to score
Geo will be fine.
Thiam was ok too, not great but looked to score at least, Pyke sat him too long
Harper and Miles have to play more,
They will be very good by mid year
With all the long players we have, we should be playing more zone
A Temple matchup or Syracuse 3-2 would help utilize our strengths
Last night was a terrible matchup for us
Adjusting to them was impossible
We should have tried to make them adjust to us
Go big not small, go 3-2 zone
Miles and Eugene on the base line
Geo top, Harper and Thiam on wings
Harper has the handle to play the two on offense
This team will find its identity and get much better

Same way that people were starting bubble talk after games 1 and 2. We're not as good as we looked in those and we're not as bad as we looked last night.

Good post. Especially agree on playing more zone, although SJU would've torched a zone last night. Was watching the replay of the RU-PSU A10 championship game the other night and maybe Bob Wenzel should talk to Pike about the 1-3-1 we played most of that game - we were mostly long and very active that game.

Extended zones with our length don't always make the 3 an easier option. Most of there 3s cam off isolation where our defenders were more concerned about allowing penetration. We were giving up the three more often then not.
I don't see St Johns as a catch and shoot type of team, players like that prefer to shoot off the dribble or one on one iso.
Offensively we did not adapt to there aggressive d. Many of the players on the court for St Johns were interchangeable athletically. They did not fight through any screens, they constantly switched. They did not fear a mismatch because they had no real bigs.

The level of competition made Rutgers look very good in the first 2 games and over matched against St.Johns .

Nah, just a bad game for us and a great game for them. It happens. We'll keep improving throughout the year, regardless.
