Pat Forde's thoughts on Rutgers

It did, and I believe the Illinois coach was fired.
They were both fired. My point is that Forde's contention that the B1G is being sullied by our mistakes is balderdash. There are PAH-LENT-EY of other programs out there with suspensions and comparable embarrassing incidents. Can you imagine if Flood or any other Rutgers employee had the below texts made public? We'd be hearing about it for on OTL on the first of every month for the next year.

Whatever you say, were never in the news
Zappa, most people watching the news don't give a crap about RU. They see something, they shake their heads and at most think about it for a minute or so, make a joke to their buddies and then forget about us entirely.

How many minutes per day do you think about other schools that have had issues? I flat out never think of them unless someone talks about it on this board. And then I forget about it the minute I go do something else.

Do you honestly think I believe people sit around and discuss us at length.
How much time people think about us from around the country is not the point.
We have an obvious perception issue regarding our athletics that preceeds us, either they know as a whole we struggle or we're just irrelevant.
"they suck, what are they doing the B1G" takes about 3 seconds of their day.
If you don't give a crap…fine.

It's called 'brand equity.' Over the last few years our brand equity has suffered. It's all about perception. Fortunately, with the right news, it can be reversed.

And yet here you are, on our board, reading through a bunch of our posts and checking up on us.

Did you go to Minnesotas board when they were the center of attention? How about Illinois? USC when their drunk coach was cussing at a fundraiser? There is absolutely something unique about Rutgers that makes people pile on incessantly. I don't know if it's that we're close to NYC, new to the B1G, or people generally don't like NJ, but things that happen here tend to be amplified more than at other schools.
I know just what you mean...I glanced at his ignorant comment and decided against dignifing it by responding but glad you did..4 comments and he picked us....another example of the misguided hostility...i like most would just blow it off.

Please stop comparing long-established members of the Big Ten with a school most fans were, if not appalled, unhappy about getting an invitation. Sure, a few fans here and there welcomed us, but most Big Ten fans were disgusted that the push for cable-related dollars trumped pretty much everything else.

People are not going to reflect on something at Minnesota and wonder if the Big Ten will keep them. They ARE Big Ten. We just got in -- solely by virtue of our location -- and we've been nothing but trouble ever since, in their eyes.

My advice would be to stop concerning ourselves with this. We need to earn our stripes in the Big Ten in a way Penn State and Nebraska didn't have to because of their history. And going 3-5 in the league is nice, but doesn't exactly do the trick.

We know our value to the conference. But most people -- at other Big Ten schools and nationally -- have a hard time saying "Rutgers" and "Big Ten" seriously. This will change, of course. But it's going to take time, and until it does -- or until stupid things stop happening around Rutgers (and people stop saying and doing stupid things) -- we'll have to deal with it. But, as has been pointed out, they are not kicking us out, we help make them money, and in the long run we're going to be just fine.

It seems that by nature of our media market minor infractions get blown up.

Does anyone remember that a Syracuse assistant was sleeping with underage ball boys? No.

Does anyone remember Miami paying prostitutes to get abortions impregnated by recruits? No.

What about the Rape scandals at both Tennessee and ND? No.

For some reason, Coach Jordan not completing his degree is a terrible transgression that ESPN used as an example of the scandal crises at Rutgers.

The media in our market manufactures outrage. It sells papers in the NY metro area. In other places, they would accuse the media of being disloyal.

Louisville buys whores. TCU covers-up players who beat up students. SMU lies for years about players going to class

But RU is out of control?

A) we're too nice
