love this guy. loved his video on the Rutgers Big Ten Build.

he comes across just so confident that he will get things done and is so authentic and believable. Loved how he simply said "donate $500 over 5 years". rather than asking for a lot, he is stating something that is really doable for most. loved how he said he and the other head coaches each donated 50k. just love this guy.

The best Hobbs moment thus far is that he went so far as to say about Ash, that he wished he could have recorded Ash's approach to the interview process and teach a course with it.

If Ash is that good, the he is capable of writing a book with those kind of life tips. Urban wrote his this past year. Perhaps, rather than Urban capitalizing off his success, an Ash book would serve as a defining of the man and exposing his philosophies to a greater audience.

It worked for Obama. His job used to be being a professor and being an author.

I realize I'm really projecting greatness onto Ash, but it was the Hobbs quote that created the mystique in my mind.

I.

Unbelievable quote, no doubt, and not even necessary for him to have put it there IMHO.

All is good with Hobbs and ash right now. It will be interesting when we lose by 50 to someone what the posts will be on this Board.

Hobbs is great. Tonight he came up to our section (213) and thanked many of us for supporting the team. He is a breath of fresh air. He is very positive and confident.

Did he thank all 247 people in attendance?

The basketball team just did lose by 50 and everyone is still impressed with the job that Hobbs is doing. Probably because he's doing a great job.

But in the mean time, here's a cartoon of your life

Anybody with a clue realizes we're going to have some struggles at first, particularly due to the quality depth issues, incredibly tough schedule, and change of systems. Ash has a big overhaul job to take care of right now.

I really liked Julie and supported her. However, they had to hide her more than the Kennedy kid who had the lobotomy. Can't have that for your AD.
They didn't have to hide her as much as they needed to publicly back her, and they didn't do that. Everyone has a learning curve, and Barchi, the BOG, BOT, and others are learning that playing chicken will get you eaten alive in our culture. Tim fell on a sword due to their lack of understanding of how to work in a public space, Julie fell on a smaller sword but a sword nonetheless, and Hobbs now has the benefit of a more experienced administration. We'll see how the media treats him, but my hope is that the university supports him through thick and thin.

Let's be real. We now have an AD that the press and the public respect and its deserved.

THIS is the JOB that Hobbs was designed for. Everything that he did previously was just practicing to become the RU AD. AND for RU ,it's about time that we got a REAL one.

Maybe it was just me but I would have liked it to be more about the athlete and less about him. The showing of the headlines with his name was a bit much. He acted as if this was all his work and ideas when in reality it was handed to him. Far to many I's and not enough of those who could really benefit from these facilities. It had more of political ad of a guy raising money for his campaign. I lost tracks of the number of I he said.

WTF are you talking about?

When I watched, i didn't notice a single "I"
When the newspapers were shown, I was looking for the newspaper's name and writer, not the headline.

I must say the guy looks like he's really enjoying the job. So far he's done an excellent job. Good for Rutgers!

It is very clear that you don't know Rutgers very well.

After having an AD that was not respected, not someone who could be trusted with a mic in front of her, and basically not getting the job done, the Rutgers community NEEDED to see a strong leader of the athletic department. I loved every single "I" in his presentation....and I believed him, unlike Hermann.

And if you don't think he talked enough abut the student athletes, then you either didn't listen to the whole thing, or you're just trying to be difficult.
