Only game that moves the needle with the fan base now. Nothing else matters, just beat those damn Nittany Lions. Unfortunately, lots of season tickets holders will dump their tickets to anyone and we'll have a "We are penn state" chant at our own stadium.

This ^^^^. Gio and TO is the future. Despite the pick 6, he makes plays and plays to win.

You never know what the weather will be like but I think you guys are in big trouble. Despite the numerous injuries, I think you wanted them earlier in the season rather than later.

And the pick-6 was a tipped ball. Haven't seen the replay, but it was tipped, possibly enough to change the trajectory into the arms of the (IIRC) safety.

there is potential for this to be very ugly if RU continues to lose and PSU finished up strong...12K-15K PSU fans to 20-25K RU fans

We will turn the corner now that we have a new QB. PSU is not going to finish strong.

Zero chance there is only 32k - 45k in attendance IMO. I think boarderline sellout even if the team continues to be a disaster

I think you're wrong. With McSorley now running the ball, the offense is going to be improved. PSU should also have at least one player back from injury.

BTW, not sure how you think RU is going to finish strong after what I watched today.

Saquon Barkley could run for 300 yards against us. This game will be a 4 TD spread , and RU won't come close to covering.

We are back to the Terry Shea days.

Barkley isn't who you have to worry about. McSorley is the problem.

I already told my wife if i dont go I will not be giving or selling my ticket to anyone!!!!!! I will put the ticket on top of a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich and eat it !!!!!!
Didn't you mean Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese? :)

I was thinking this but...ill let an actual Rutgers fan admit this...can't say I'm not looking forward to seeing what Barkley can do against this defense...now that Mcsorely looks a lot more comfortable running the RPO

Gonna lose by 17 imo. THIS was our bowl game. It sucks but it is what it is. Circle the wagons and recruit like your career depends on it.

I agree that Illinois was our best opportunity to win a B1G game outright based on talent and coaching. To win any of the remaining games we need that team to lose the game by turning the ball over, penalties, and sloppy play. It very well might happen, but unlikely.

Think your D is no where near last year. Looked bad against Mich and needed OT against Minny. Think we'll have a shot now after the change in QB.

Don't consider any regular season game to be RU's bowl game .
Right now ( in my opinion) : Penn St playing Rutgers ( this season and for a few years) can't even be considered a rivalry game until RU can force Nit fans to admit that losing to Rutgers scares them . Right now they aren't worried and haven't been for a long time.
The only way to force that to happen is to put a team on the field capable of beating Penn St and doing that . Also after the loss reasonable Nit fans can't find a valid excuse for losing to Rutgers.

I won't go along with saying any regular season game can take the place of a bowl game because the Scarlet Knights aren't good enough to deserve one of around 70 slots bowl games have.
But do agree beating some schools does have a better feeling than beating a school you could care less about.
The amount of Penn St related posts on this board show Rutgers fans care about that school located in Happy Valley and there's no love lost between the fanbases. The amount of Rutgers related posts on BWI ( from the few times I checked that site out) doesn't show many RU related threads, but the dislike is evident on they ones that show.

Well, when you lose three DL to the NFL, your defense is probably going to drop off a bit.

The defense is definitely not very good right now but they are improving. Easily ten deep on the DL with all young guys who will be back next year. We've also had all three starting LBs out as well as two backup LBs. Started a 6'3, 200# true freshman one game. I would hope two of the three starters will be back by Rutgers.

I would guess we will load the box and make you're QB beat us with his arm. Doubt that will happen.

Your rush defense is ranked second to last in CFB and 108th overall. I don't think you are going to be able to stop Penn State's offense.

I was worried about 2014 and said you needed to get them that year or it would be a while. That's still my viewpoint.

"Rivalry" is really overrated IMO. The reality is that Penn State doesn't have one. That doesn't mean beating Rutgers or Maryland or Ohio State isn't important. That being said, our hatred for PITT won't die until the guys like me (and older) die off. Losing to you would sting for a day or a week but losing to PITT will sting until we kick their ass next year.

disagree. Did you see attendance yesterday. Do you think RU fans are going to show in numbers if they come in 2-8...we will get our same hardcores and the rest is going to be obnoxious PSU.

Great...a game between a really bad team (them) and a really, really bad team (us)...might actually be fun!

The suck bowl...

I've said this on this board before but, there are two kinds of die hard PSU fans, those in central and western PA who could care less about Rutgers as a "rival" and those of us in NJ and eastern PA that would like it to become a rivalry in the future once Rutgers gets its act together...no one is going to get excited over two teams that are mediocre, if both these teams can challenge Ohio state and Michigan once in a while then maybe this game will start to take on more relevance and a rivalry will be born...does anyone care about the Purdue-Indiana "rivalry", no because they are both terrible in football.

Franklin is enough of an a-hole that he's going to try to outdo Harbaugh. But he won't get anywhere near that mark.

Penn State is a solid team this year. This is not a bowl game. This is going to be another lopsided affair. But I will go and cheer as loud as I can, with a good pair of high tops just in case I have to jump over a railing or two when the final cannon shot is fired.

If we beat them, it will be better than any past bowl wins.
That's sad, but none of RUs bowl wins were in a major bowl game, so that type sentiment by RU fans might not be that hard to believe
In fact Rutgers never made it to a major bowl, though in 1961 the Rose Bowl was said to be considering RU, but Mason Gross RU's President at the time didn't express interest and the Rose Bowl's organizers dropped RU from consideration.

If Rutgers upsets PSU, there will be RU fans placing it among the top RU wins of all time up there with the 1979 13-7 win over Tennessee .
But I won't feel that way because of how bad RU is and Penn St ( this season) isn't in the same class as the 1979 Vols were at the time..
