I totally wanted to clickbait that subject and leave it as "and says..."
I don’t like the tweet. He knows there’s speculation and could have said something more definitive if he’s staying. Our season ended a week ago, why thank the fans today? Sounds suspiciously like a pre-announcement.
He is working hard for RUTGERS. Stop with the crazy theories.

He did. And those concerned, I get you. After all, we are Rutgers fans. But having said that, just think logically. Why would someone like Pikiell who spent 11 seasons as HC of Stony Brook, only to finally get his chance in a P5 conference suddenly throw that all away, even for his alma mater, which may be hit with pretty big sanctions? Also, Rutgers took a chance on him and has paid him handsomely. And if it's ego, then he should not only feel good about his extension, but the fact that Hobbs was serious enough about him that he made his buyout $5 million.
Another way to look at this: don't you think Pikiell was a bit P.O. when Ollie got the job over him? UCONN alum or not. That had to sting.
Look, nothing is permanent, but on this go-round I believe Pikiell stays and gets us dancing in the near future.
Personally I think Pikiell could publicly campaign non-stop for the UConn job and still wouldn't get it. Schools don't hire guys with Pikiell's record. I see the progress he's making here, I know the mess he inherited, and I know it's his alma mater. Still don't see it happening.
Also seems doubtful Pikiell would've signed the extension that sharply increased his buyout if he leaves if he was that interested. It's not like the Ollie rumors haven't been around all season.

What the F makes anyone but a delusional Rutgers fan think he would even be among the first 10 coaches contacted?
He posted a video on Twitter on March 30th of last year to thank the fans.
A coach being talked about for another job and then staying would usually be viewed as a positive (sends a message they are happy where they are and believe in the program). If it becomes a reoccurring theme that they're looking elsewhere, then it can be used against you.
If Jim Calhoun loves him as much as they say, it’s not an unreasonable chance.
People are talking about Pikiell, which I think is highly unlikely for any situation to happen.
More realistically, it will be Pikiells rest of staff that should be a conversation.
What does Jay Young do? Great coach, wanted a HC job. Great at teaching defense.
What happens with Shoes if Corey Sanders stays? Does that push Shoes to try to keep Sanders here? Shoes was kept on staff because of previous recruits.
What with Brandon Knight? Young coach, has potential.
What happens to Karl Hobbs? Stepped on Georgetown campus last year, but came back.
All of these have a lot more realistic chances to chance than Steve Pikiell leaving.
