We have to get the NB kid now to make up for the two guys they just flipped... Competing with TTFP is one thing, they are B1G, but losing kids to an ACC team? Ash can do better

They only flipped one kid. Why are you writing two?

Pitt has been a good recruiting program for a long time. People here were giddy about getting their recruiting staff when Wanny was fired. Of course they play in pro stadium they share .They send lots of excellent guys to NFL (lineman even - both sides of ball). One of my most vivid RU memories was of Ray Rice breaking a 60 yd run vs Pitt in last seconds of tight game - then Revis came and caught him while seeming to run twice as fast as everyone else. PItt isn't a dog mess situation

Well either they don't know how to use their recruits or their recruits are highly overrated because they haven't really been any better than us for the last 10 or 12 years, and we haven't exactly been blowing the doors off of college football.

I know right Nuts! These people are exhausting! THE GUY JUST GOT HIRED A WEEK AGO! Most of the people here would still be counting how many pens are left in the desk they just inherited.
We have not lost a single thing, WE GAINED A HEAD COACH! Finally...

We need to flip their dual threat QB 3 star recruit considering they don't have an offensive coordinator and they don't run a spread offense.

The problem with Pitt for the last decade has been the head coach carousel (shooting yourself in the foot so to speak) they have been on.

With a new Chancellor and AD totally committed to Pitt athletics and the additional funding brought to the University from ACC Conference membership, I believe a now era is emerging.

Pat Narduzzi was 49 when he took the the HC position at Pitt and has stated he is looking at it as a long term job.
That is all Pitt needs, a good coach who will stay at the University for the next 16 years (what Beamer was to VT-continuity). You have to be competitive salary wise to keep your coach. That is why a P5 program will always have an advantage over the other programs. Pitt is now prepared to keep a good coach.

Some coaches leave a program for a few dollars more then run into problems at their new school. (Texas for example).

Another example, we had a head coach who turned our basketball program around (left for UCLA) got fired
while Jamie Dixon took his place and is still with Pitt.

Some people have said Narduzzi is a bad recruiter but I have always believed it takes at least one year (next recruiting class) after the head coach arrives to determine that (NLD-February for Narduzzi).

Still early in the process but at this juncture Pitt football may be a program on the rise.

Also at this point no one can actually complain about ASH and recruiting. He is being pulled in so many directions (staffing, recruiting,Ohio State responsibilities etc.)

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

The AAC was better than the ACC this year. Let that sink in. Even if you were any good, no one watches ACC football anyway.

Recruits go to a school to learn, develop, play and hopefully impress NFL scouts.

We had two Pitt players win the ACC Frosh of the Year award a RB (Ollison) and a DB(Jordan Whitehead) who also was named to USA Today (Narduzzi recruiting). I suspect Tyler Boyd will leave Pitt early for the NFL.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

yeah, it took us awhile to find a great coach. Co-won the Big East a few times, but generally underperformed while having some ridiculous talents go on to NFL stardom.

Narduzzi had one hell of a first season though, and looks like a great recruiter and great coach.

Who's watching Rutgers?

The beauty of these threads is that Flood was a bad to mediocre recruiter and everyone here complained about it. Now people are upset that Ash is losing Flood's recruits as if a coach should just try to get as many bodies on the field regardless of if they are a good fit or he thinks highly of them or not. If Flood's recruits don't want to be here than so be it. Stop acting like a 2 year old dropping and crying about his pacifier.

That the ACC refs had to blatantly bail out to save them. Off sides on a non-reviewable call.

If long term you mean a year. He was calling us after one year. That's how committed he is to Pitt. Has a coach ever said I'm here to use you as a stepping stone?

What is so special about the Big10? Look at Iowa's or Wisconsin's schedule this year. Pretty damn weak conference games. I get OSU, but there's a lot so-so teams, and that's putting it mildly.

ACC is garbage
PITT is the trash you throw in the can at the beginning of the week and it sits and rots at the bottom of the bag until trash day.

We chose to go with the guy with the ring. We told him no thanks. Deal with it.

You can't seriously be that out of touch with reality if you think Rutgers is in a better position than PITT? 4-8 with wins against Kansas, Army, Indiana, and Norfolk State; very impressive! I'm sure the rest of the BIG is extremely happy with the addition of Rutgers. They have the pleasure of playing a conference game against an FCS team.

You had a better year. You think things like this come down to one season? Sorry genius. We are in a real conference, have our own stadium, play in front of people as opposed to yellow seats and do you think PN really wants to live in Pittsburgh?

We are in a real conference.
Listen to yourself, man. Rutgers was the last school picked in expansion. The last. The Big Ten has some history, sure. So do teams like the U, FSU (won the title two seasons ago), Clemson (No. 1 team right now), and more. Just listing teams that have been strong over the last few years. Virginia Tech is no slouch. Pitt finally got their coach, and is recruiting well.

Yeah, the Big 10 is good this year. Finally. Still not a world-beater or anything, and really no better all-around than the ACC. Or Big-12 or Pac-12, really.

PD didn't care that we were picked last. He had his bags packed until we shut things down. Now he's stuck in Pittsburgh.

Looking at it as long term ? Is that why Narduzzi did a phone interview for the Rutgers job ?

He did not call you. If he had interest you would have hired him.

The fact is the HC position has been a revolving door at Pitt, so you don't think it is possible that Narduzzi contacted RU about the vacancy?

Believe what you want to believe my friend...

The B1G is finally good again? Who won the National Championship last year genius? What conference did that school play in?
