Pitt flips

PD didn't care that we were picked last. He had his bags packed until we shut things down. Now he's stuck in Pittsburgh.

And when Ash is gone after a few seasons of mediocrity, you'll be pretty frustrated about choosing him over Narduzzi. You better hope you didn't shut things down.

I'll be back to chuckle at you when that day comes. I suspect by then you'll be ready to admit you've made this all up, though.

OMG Pitt TROLLS...

It is well known that Narduzzi wanted the RU job and contacted our AD through indirect means the week leading up to Ash's hiring. He was willing to also take a pay cut from what he made at Pitt. At that time however we were further along with Ash and so turned Narduzzi down. He wants to get back in the B1G.

This was further corroborated (on the round table premium board) by our mods as well as multiple posters linked in with senior officials in the Rutgers admin/big donor base.

It's a fact, it happened. He wanted in for less pay but we turned him down in favor of Ash. The END.

I would say that the chances of Narduzzi leaving earlier than Ash in their respective jobs is higher than the reverse situation. Go back to your board, Pitt fan.

Enjoy Narduzzi while it lasts. There is a good possibility Narduzzi will be gone when the carousel starts again after next season. Given Pitt's recent history with HCs, I don't think Pitt fans should be mocking another school's HC.

Sorry, my post was a bit trollish.

I'd greatly appreciate it, though, if you could link an open source confirming your description of the events. Preferably something that's not corroborated by a sour Rutgers fan behind a pay wall.

The one immediate problem with Ash taking the RU job is that he is still fulfilling his duties at OSU. I don't know how these things generally work, but the fact that he is not in NJ glad handing, recruiting and getting started as a HC is not a good thing at all.

Again - believe whatever you want to believe.

If I was a Pitt fan, and given Pitt's recent history with coaches jumping to other opportunities, I wouldn't be so confident that the current HC wasn't exploring other opportunities.

If this is true, that's really crazy. I don't know much about Narduzzi but he seems like a really good fit for PITT. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way but if he wanted to leave PITT for Rutgers for less pay, it really shows you how pathetic PITT's football program is.

No dice. If you want to read it from the horse's mouth, cough up the $10 and go read it on our premium site. Their's NEVER going to be an open source on this because it was done through indirect backroom deals as are most deals of this nature.

It's too easy to say "Narduzzi wanted RU but we shut it down."

You make a claim like that, you back it up. Otherwise, I'll believe not what I want to believe, but what logic leads me to believe...

...and that's RU people have some seriously sour grapes.

How about an article form an independent source, quoting RU officials? Are you telling me the only proof of this exists on a Rutgers pay board, sourced by Rutgers fans? Really?

No sour grapes here…I think both Ash and Narduzzi are very good football coaches. This program needed a jolt and I think Ash is a guy that can breathe life back into the program. Guy won a National Championship with Meyer and had the opportunity to learn first hand what goes into building a championship caliber program. Ash is widely praised as being a rising star in the college coaching ranks a la Tom Herman. OSU fans were definitely sorry to see him leave their program.

No sour grapes at all.

Wait wait... I've got a business plan:

You pay me $10 bucks a month and I'll tell you whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

Free Sample:

I have it on good authority that French is going to flip to RU because Pitt is lame and RU is the best.

Id like to thank you for turning down Narduzzi personally.

Pitt was predicted to finish dead last in the ACC and ended up finishing 3rd in the ACC, 2nd in the coastal, with a brand new head coach after losing James Conner in the 1st quarter of the first game of the season, the 2014 ACC player of the year.

All Narduzzi did was get Pitt an 8-4 record.
Get Pitt the ACC offensive and defensive freshmen of the year award winners with Whitehead and Ollison,
And has Pitt losing only 7 players off the entire 2 deep of the team.

I would like to thank Rutgers again. Because Pitt is a stonecold lock to start preseason Top 25 and compete for the ACC title next year.

@ThatPittGuy

Believe what you want to believe. The evidence is on the premium board. If it's not worth $10 to you to read the evidence first hand, that's your choice. Continuing to bury your head in the sand is also your choice. I don't really care either way.

For the record, I think you have every reason to be excited about Ash. I don't see why he can't accomplish good things at RU and the reasons you cite are a sound basis to think that.

It's just... floating rumors about PN...? C'mon people.

Something about the word "evidence" is a challenge for you. But's it's fine, I don't want to beat a dead horse.

Seriously RU fans, good luck next season. I wish no ill on your program and hope that you beat Penn State silly. That year in the Big East when RU, WVU and USF were all on fire was one of the most memorable college football seasons for me.

LOL!

Rutgers Fans are the most delusional bunch in the history of mankind….

Narduzzi interested in a job like Rutgers???? LOL! The rumor was floated in an attempt to stop Pitt from coming in and flipping their recruits. That’s the truth DEAL WITH IT! Unfortunately, it didn’t work! Why would anyone want the Rutgers job?????

You guys are a national joke. So please stop turning up your nose at Pitt. You sound like PSU fans without the accomplishments… LOL

I can't even imagine if this type of post was made on Panther Lair. Every poster on there would report it and Peak would do what he does best and banish the poster forever.

Gotta give props to the crew who runs this site. They allow for free discussion.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen....other than Pitt taking any Rutgers recruit they want.

It was completely debunked by Pitt insiders. It was a lame attempt to stop Pitt from poaching a bunch of Rutgers players....which didn't work out so well for you guys.

If long term you mean a year. He was calling us after one year. That's how committed he is to Pitt. Has a coach ever said I'm here to use you as a stepping stone?
LOL yeah... according to that source, Dan Mullen wanted Rutgers too. Are you guys really delusional enough to think that's even remotely possible? I'm kind of astounded by how arrogant you guys are in this thread. YOU'RE RUTGERS

Actually Mullen was in discussions with both Maryland and Rutgers this go around but he wanted $6mill so we (and MD apparently) went in a different direction. he wanted that much to account for the cost of living bump for going from Miss to NJ/MD.

and Pitt fans are worried about Rutgers new HC making RU a destination for recruits that want more than a Pitt type program
Right now because of the coaching change RU's losing some commits but that's to be expected and RU's last HC Flood was a poor recruiter and couldn't bring in the best of NJ HS FB.
Just the type of recruits that are good enough for programs like Pitt.
Pitt's HC isn't that much of a go getter either .
Enjoy your RU decommits, just know the way sPitt's HC recruits, you got lucky this time
But not good (RU under Flood was worse):

Pitt? Lol... No coach would ever leave Pittsburgh. Who doesn't want to play second or third fiddle in their own state and use such ignorant parlance as "yinz".

You had a better year. You think things like this come down to one season? Sorry genius. We are in a real conference, have our own stadium, play in front of people as opposed to yellow seats and do you think PN really wants to live in Pittsburgh?
Well I guess there are some people there if you look closely enough....

Pitt plays in a 68,000 seat stadium and had attendance numbers like this
Louisville: 42,119
Miami: 40,126
North Carolina : 43,049
don't get on your high horse over empty seats.
The cause of RU's empty seats is gone, Pitt has a history of having its fans invisible
during its home games and known not to travel to bowl games.
Face it , sPitt isn't going to set attendance records now or in the future and bowl committees cringe when they hear the Pitt Panthers might be headed their way

Hobbs said he interviewed six candidates by phone. He declined to name any, though Gannett New Jersey has confirmed that mutual interest existed between Rutgers and former Miami coach Al Golden, a Colts Neck native, as well as Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi.

No names from Hobbs. No mention by Gannett of who confirmed. Authored by an RU grad writing for the... Asbury Park Press?

It's a coin toss which is more credible: this article or that anonymous poster on the pay board with the "really super high-level important secret connections... trust me."

Scary how much better Pitt's recruiting is under Narduzzi than Rutgers is with it's new HC .

Still not how it works...

Apparently you have no idea how it works. Who exactly is going to say something to the press? Narduzzi? Narduzzi's agent? Pat Hobbs?

You figure Pitt fans would be used to losing coaches at this point. Apparently they haven't learned anything.

I never realized Pitt fans had such an inferiority complex when we were in the Big East. It seems every former BE school who has moved onto the acc (BE v2.0) acts this same way. I guess a glorified mid major will do that to you.

Rutgers takes care of that by finishing 4-8 and lacking bowl eligibility.
