Does anyone know whether or not players receive from the University any information or guidance regarding the long-term personal health risks they are taking by playing football at this level? I know they "should" have been advised of this long before they get to RU, but I'm just wondering if the University does anything in this regard. An annual reality check conducted by Eric LeGrand would be a good start.

Does the dealership remind you that driving is dangerous every Time you buy a car? How about buying a plane ticket?

As a kid would I have gone into my cellar on a Friday night and ran my head into the concrete wall 50 times, 10 Friday nights a fall? no.

As a middle schooler would I have gone into my cellar on a Friday night and ran my head into the concrete wall 50 times, 10 Friday nights a fall? no.

As a high schooler would I have gone into my cellar on a Friday night and ran my head into the concrete wall 50 times, 10 Friday nights a fall? no.

As a college player would I have gone into my cellar on a Friday night and ran my head into the concrete wall 50 times, 10 Saturday's fall? no.

Did I sign up to do it with 30 of my buddies in front of my towns people? Yes. I knew what I was doing and could have stopped at any time.

The reward of building character outweighed the risks.

How about answering the OP's question instead of retorting with a ridiculous false-equivalence?

I don't know, but I'd imagine that a school with a neurosurgeon at the helm would provide such services. Ask the AD.

Because he doesn't deserve an honest answer. It's his second post and he bring up El's injury to push his agenda. He's a troll.

OK guys, thanks. I thought perhaps with all the new info coming out about concussions and other injuries that this might be a topic of interest. I see that it is not. I'll go back to whatever it is us trolls do.

Media hype along with the need of todays society to give everyone an excuse for their behaviors has leady to the hysteria over safety and injuries in football. Do we need research and modify rules to protect players? Of course we do. However the overreaction that some have taken is ridiculous. There are over 70.000+ college football players and 1 million + high school football players annually. If football was so debilitating you would have a major epidemic on your hands. The vast majority of college players go on to live productive healthy lives. I think people are looking for something to blame when these athletes do stupid things that they probably would have done even if they hadn't played football.

Thank you... I hear there is a very nice ballet in town, but be careful with those high lifts...

Well said. I coach a team of first and second graders and we were given a card with questions to ask the kids if we thought they might have one. More than half the team failed the test before we ever put pads on.
