Politi - Per source, Pinstripe wants Rutgers

This. Was at the Bowl game when we destroyed UNC in 2014.
Detroit was a great venue…. Numerous bars , restaurants, Casinos, breweries, etc to walk to . Totally safe environment. Much better than the South Bronx…. Been there numerous times as well.
This was a great experience and our whole traveling RU crew thought so. Far better than the Bronx, a rickety old stadium in Birmingham, a worthless bowl in Canada against a tier 2 opponent - and that horrible Ricky-dink bowl in St Petersburg. Small-time garbage - and we have been to every bowl except one.

Detroit had great food, a nice hotel, the lions stadium was beautiful, was in the rejuvenated downtown and we played a real opponent. The best chix wings I’ve ever had and the wife is a trained chef.

BTW - this will be Georgia Tech’s first bowl game since 2018. my guess is that they double what Iowa State did in 2011. They actually have an alumni base in the region that’s decent in size which ISU did not.

*** should they be our opponent in the Bronx, that is!

I know of only 1 schools alumni Association that has reached out to one of the bars I’ve spoken with to discuss throwing a party there. The school doesn’t wear orange nor maroon.
How about Yellow 🐝?

Nothing is set in stone at this point. Should a Miami or UNC SOMEHOW still be available I could easily see them being swiped-up last second. Just have a pretty good feeling those 2, along with Clemson, will be gone by then and all signs point to "GT" otherwise (including word from a bar owner in The Bronx about the GT alumni association....BUT....they could be looking to set things up in a few different cities).

Yeah, unless they have alums in the ny metro area I don’t think those in the South want to venture up to the cold Bronx temps in late December
I work with a GT alum who is a rabid football fan. He lives in PA and he has no intention of going to the Bronx. Sample size of 1 so...doesn't translate into anything.

So here's what I'm seeing looking around as updated as possible (for the ACC):

FSU - playoff/NY6
Louisville - Orange
(ND to Reliaquest)
Clemson - Holiday vs USC
UNC - Gator
Miami - Sun Bowl
NC State - Pop Tarts (former Cheeze-It/Russell/Champs/etc)
GT - Pinstripe
Duke - Duke's Mayo vs Kentucky
VT - Military Bowl
BC - Fenway
'Cuse - nobody cares

Same here but I predict they will not travel well to the Bronx... and I don't blame them.

They’ll travel to NYC. Spend days there and catch a game in the Bronx. You make it as though they’ll be looking for hotels in the Bronx. Lol

ruronny,

I also had a great experience in Detroit, for all the reasons you stated and I also visited the Motown museum which was a personal favorite. But I would go further and say I had great experiences at the other bowls as well. Toronto was surprisingly fun, we went to some great bars and restaurants, visited the Hockey Hall of Fame, went up their version of a space needle thing, and visited a pretty cool strip club. For all of those games the common denominator was that we had a group of guys taking a trip to a destination. To me that is the essence of a bowl experience. The Pinstripe in many ways is like an extra home game in what is honestly a less appealing football stadium. You drive to the game in the morning and drive home after it's over. I went to both of our Pinstripe Bowls and I would prefer any other bowl, even the Fenway if that were an option 😀. Unlike some, I honestly have nothing against the existence of the Pinstripe Bowl itself (even though the site lines suck and it apparently has bad turf as well), it's just that it's in our backyard. I'm sure there are people from other parts of the country that would love to come to the City for a few days during the holidays. I can go into the City anytime I want. (I posted an article in another thread a few days ago about how Minnesota felt screwed when they were passed over for the Pinstripe and had to go to Phoenix a couple years ago). Having said all that, I get that we're apparently fated to go there this year and I'll be there myself, cheering on the team, but I suspect that I'll be a little sad that we didn't get to take a trip somewhere, anywhere.

Is Rutgers set in stone? Not busting, serious question.

This. Those who make ridiculous comments have never been to the Bowl game there.
