Politi - Per source, Pinstripe wants Rutgers

I'm 99% certain, based on complex algorithms you wouldn't understand, that there is no single position that the "overwhelming majority" of Rutgers fans has on the Pinstripe Bowl or any bowl.

We'd probably even not have an "overwhelming majority" supporting going to a CFP bowl on 1/1, lol. Although I have to say, it's nice to have them on the traditional day - I miss not always having the major bowls on 1/1.
Bah. I invented the entire concept of algorithms.

Anyway, I'm 99% certain that everybody with any sense at all sees the Pinstripe bowl as the worst imaginable bowl game ever egregiously misconceived in the entire history of football bowl games.

Give me all of our former Big East foes.

Very happy to be in the Pinstripe. Means I don't have to travel to someplace I'd only be marginally interested in during the busiest travel time and it avoids holiday conflicts for me. Unless we're a 9+ win team going to a very prestigious bowl, I'm fine staying local.

It’s not happening but the Music City checks a lot of those boxes IMO.

In a previous thread, Music City/Nashville was the only other bowl we'd be in line for that I was interested in from a visiting perspective, as I've never been to Nashville, plus it's driveable (under 12 hours). Been to Vegas (not a big fan), been to Detroit (even in December I have no great desire to go, lol), been to Florida a million times (not a fan at all - I only go there due to family), been to AZ a few times.

I mentioned it to my son to gauge his interest in going and he thought it was idiotic. But it is convenient.

Even further off: he said "overwhelming majority of RU nation" wants nothing to do with Pinstripe.
Unfortunately you and fsg2 are both wrong.
A recent Poll on this very Board had 88% of RU Fans wanting to go any Bowl not named the Pinstripe.
A reward for the Team, Staff, Family, and fans is a desirable Bowl location. The Bronx ain’t that.

That's a logic fail on your part. The poll asked for the bowl one most wanted to go to and I think my answer was Music City. Doesn't mean "I want no part" of Pinstripe or any other bowl, since the poll wasn't asking that question. I do agree that a nice destination bowl is a reward for most of the players/coaches/staff and some fans, but not all - I went to all but one bowl game and enjoyed them, but I also enjoyed both Pinstripe Bowls. The poll question would have to be reconfigured to determine who "wants no part of" the Pinstripe.

We would be obliterated by the Canes now.
Can you elaborate? I don't know that much about them.

I would love for it to be Miami.
- Like Clemson, I think they would have more than a few guys sit the game out.
- Mario Christobal coaching against RU is a good story
- Fair to say a lot of those guys won't like playing in cold weather
- Chance for payback after all those butt whoopings in the 90s
- If we win it looks great. If we lose, perception not that bad.

The only benefits are the extra practices and a chance to finish above .500. I'll watch it on TV, but I have no interest in watching a football game at Yankee Stadium in person.
This 100% . I’ll go because that’s where we are forced to play.
It’s the least desired location of any B1G program ( that’s why B1G Bowl rules constantly minimize the number of times teams have to go there).
And for those posters playing semantics about which Bowl they want to go to.. Pinstripe is dead last for any location for us.

Still think the one in BOISE IDAHO (!) was the gold standard for this.
When my niece got declined admission to BC around ‘06, because of them ditching the BE and that, I wished a thousand years of them playing in the Humanitarian Bowl on that God-forsaken blue field.

Yeah I think the Potato Bowl is probably the worst overall bowl game. Who wants to go to freaking Idaho during Christmas week?

Anyone who likes beautiful states and/or skiing? Supposed to be a nice fast-growing city, too - small but on the rise.

People have always wrongfully lumped that bowl into the crap segment with Detroit, Fenway and the like. It doesnt belong, especially since it has a tie-in with MWC.

If I were attending the bowl game, I would prefer anyplace that isn’t a baseball stadium over any baseball stadium. The location doesn’t matter much to me because, for me, fun is mostly about who I’m with, not where I am.

I also tend to believe that we carry our fun inside us wherever we go.

OTOH, the fun of watching a football game is greatly reduced by bad viewing angles or distances. I feel the same way about concerts. If I can’t get good seats, I’d rather skip it.

Good points

I’d prefer Detroit.

To me, for a fan, the bowl experience is all about the trip. The events, the traveling. And then the game.

I’m not excited and have no interest going to a bowl game in a city that in in 3 times a week.
agree 100%

no desire to go to Pinstripe but anywhere else, I take the whole family and have a great time

I‘ve been in Detroit a couple times and had a wonderful time there. Plus it’s a football stadium for the bowl game, right? Which is way better than watching football in a baseball stadium.
This. Was at the Bowl game when we destroyed UNC in 2014.
Detroit was a great venue…. Numerous bars , restaurants, Casinos, breweries, etc to walk to . Totally safe environment. Much better than the South Bronx…. Been there numerous times as well.
