I just hate it when they talk about the Athletic Departments finances and how bad it is, but clearly fail to point out that Football supports the other sports.....

It's as if the hit piece is against Football because it will rile people up, when in reality it should be against all the other sports ..

Sometimes.

They have gotten better since we joined the B1G, but there is obviously a concerted effort to tie anything negative, no matter how unmerited, to the school and both major programs.

I'd like to vote but I need to abstain. This is due to the fact I barely give them the time of day now as a result of their past treatment towards Rutgers, which is the main reason that drove me away from subscribing to them.

Mostly fair. As much as people pick on Politi here, he is accurate -- just not delivering the message that homers want to hear. He can go from "the sky is falling" to "we may never lose again" fairly quickly though.

We complained the same way about Tom Luicci when he was covering the beat.

Honest question: does it matter?
Who is going to nj.com for Rutgers coverage?

I would assume it's not HS kids.

How has their negative coverage actually effected Rutgers?
We're still spending just as much as ever.
Recruiting isn't going down.
Made back to back bowls.

No offense but I think you're a twat.

Even if things are going relatively smooth, decent or well, they'll always dig for something negative. And for those who think otherwise, other states newspapers don't do this in years of prosperity.

I do not think they give fair coverage, which is why I unsubscribed. Kevin Manahan(sports editor) more than a decade ago went to the model of negative stories sell. It's tough to blame the writers when their boss pushes this narrative. He writes the headlines and pushes them to find negative stories.

They used to be a really good paper.
That being said.
It was criminal what they put Bob Mulcahy through. Unforgivable!
The people they attract with the negative stories must be real gems!
I don’t know how they got one vote, unimaginable how 49 people think They are fair!

Josh and Ted live in the hearts of most NJO.com/ Star Liar sports articles and blogs because that the way the editors want it to be.
There are a few articles that make Rutgers look good, but that's a bait and switch to get people to claim they are fair while they look for things to put down Rutgers .
F-em

If people actually read the articles, the SL and NJ.com are fair and reasonable to RU football. Their job is to report what actually happens, Their jobs aren’t to waive Pom Poms. The writers actually want RU to be good, it makes their jobs more fun.
!00% correct. Sometimes the truth hurts and our "homers" can't stand it.

If you let the "Star Liar" or NJ.Com hurt your feelings you have larger issues.

RU success also means more interest in the programs and more eyes on their articles.

It’s an incredibly stupid take to say that they don’t want us to succeed.

The hurt started a long time ago when Rutgers fans had to fight the lies being told by placing an ad defending Rutgers and exposing the lies being told

The "Star Liar" ?NJO.con now dresses up their putdowns as just criticism and occasionally plays nice so they can hide their anti-Rutgers agenda and fool people into thinking they really care while they make sure to make the NJ public look down and distrust Rutgers Football and the RU Athletic Department

They criticized the football program when they were losing. After Schiano turned the program around and had a modicum of success, they tried to burn it to the ground with their hatchet job articles. Then they ran Mulcahy out of town on a rail greased with lies.
Mulcahy ran Bruce Johnson out of town.

I used to enjoy reading about Rutgers Football. Especially the preseason ( Hope springs eternal). Now I couldn’t care less what they have to say.
When it came to the Star Ledger
Bob Mulcahy, Julie Herman and (Tim Pernetti (using it as a Kleenex)), weren’t wrong.
Don’t even get started with the Bergen Record. Another hater!
“No hurt feelings”. “No thicker skin needed”
Dosen’t matter now, no one cares!
If Rutgers wins the national championship I wouldn’t read one word of anything they wrote about it.

NJ.com and the SL are/were extremely anti-Rutgers in its coverage. That is the main reason why I stopped reading either years ago. I honestly don't know why anybody on this board is still reading and posting about the Rutgers coverage there. It/they are completely irrelevant and have been for a long time. This is the "News" entity that was campaigning for Rutgers to step down from the BE even as it was negotiating to join the BIG.
