As undisciplined and careless as KF was with timeouts, without Leach's 4th down calls this would not have been close.

Like I said in the other thread, penalties, turnovers, and coaching. All three did us in.

Coaching was fine, IMO. Game was lost on -3 turnovers.

What game were you watching??? We had no timeouts left, and took one on defense on a FIELD GOAL. We had crushing penalty after penalty and even had a sideline warning - which I never heard a ref say. This game was so easy on O and D. Run the ball down their throats on O and get pressure on the QB on D. This was as bad a coached game as they come.

Coaching was God Awful!

The reasons why it was close,
1. Grant
2. Running Backs

HC - no prior HC experience before Rutgers
OC - no prior OC experience before Rutgers
DC - no prior DC experience before Rutgers

great job AD

Agreed. Don't forget the academics (lack of attention thereto) and arrests played a part as well, all of which seems at least partially related to coaching, lack of discipline, loss of control, etc.

I don't agree. Penalties and use of timeouts I put on the coaching. I've never liked the use of timeouts during Flood's tenure. I think he uses them too easily. Penalties is another problem we've had pop up at various times too and I put that on coaching as well. This isn't something unique to Flood though, these parts of the game are in the coaches wheelhouse IMO.

Now of course the 3 turnovers were big, it cost us 10 points but we also lost points just off penalties as well. If the turnovers were an epidemic I'd put that on a coach too but I haven't felt we've had that kind of problem during Flood's tenure. So while the 3 turnovers sucked I don't attribute it to him. If it were to continue to happen throughout the season then I would.

Basically, if things are more pattern like then one offs then I put it on coaching.

How could the secondary/LB corps be so bad. This from a team you know, has already said, it doesn't run the ball. I know Hamilton was out...but what happened to the other D-lineman? 70 pass plays and one....one sack. I know we had some second stringers in there....but how many passes were knocked down? Out of about 70? Falk had to make a bad throw for an incompletion. No...he threw ONE away.

Start with the DB coach. Then the DC. These kids were good in high school, some of them great. When did they forget how to cover? What kind of schemes were they in? I'm totally befuddled as to what was going on out there.

Penalties: There are only two valid penalties

T be continued....I'm too PO'd

time management flat out sucked imo... why burn the last time out on a field goal with 12 minutes left?

I don't remember how we burned the first two, but you sure as hell don't waste your final one on 3 points in a game destined to have more points than that scored.

Ridiculous penalties/complete lack of discipline, wasted timeouts. That's all coaching.
