We need a "do-not-like" button. When I heard this the first thing that came to mind is that he doesn't respect us. We hire a co-defensive coordinator who dictates terms and conditions to a very inexperienced AD. Wow, this really makes us look small time. Oh well?
This isn't an accounting job! You're dealing with a multi million dollar program that's in disarray! He needs to get his staff together, get in the phone with potential recruits while getting acclimated with the way things work around here.I'm sure most of the people who want Chris Ash to start immediately are the same time of people who would quit their job without giving notice to their employer and/or transitioning their work to someone else.
The idea this is even an issue is incomprehensible to me.
Competitor! When you go to a competitor you give notice, you offer to transition, then they walk you to the door. Not a competitor you are spot on. I doubt he's taking orders from you and I would bet he knows the job better than you also. so rage onThis isn't an accounting job! If for some crazy reason, Meyer will help Coach Ash recruit for Rutgers, and send a few 4 and 5 stars our way, then I'm all for the delay.
I'm in IT. Gone to three competitors. Done the right thing, and been walked to the door three times within an hour. Maybe it was because I was in sales.I've moved from one competitor to another (partners for a global software company) in a senior role, and in both cases I completed my work and gave notice before moving on. It's the right thing to do.

We are 100% on the same page with fulfilling commitments. To be fair, that is more common in sales, often because of the fear you're going to take business with you and/or try to screw with accounts on your way out. And I'm also aware in some industries going to a competitor is verboten and you will get walked out the door. But still, I prefer people doing the right thing to not and I will never in a million years judge someone negatively for fulfilling their commitments to a prior employer.
