Oklahoma is a one loss team? Com’on man
The entire season including head-to head where it exists matter.Good question.
Texas best win is better than Georgia best win.
However, Texas loss is worse than Georgia loss.
Does Texas extra win and resume trump Georgia's resume?
FSU: the whole season matters
Bama/Texas/Georgia: only head to head matters?
Florida State and Alabama have 2 common opponents-LSU and Florida. On scores alone it looks like they were equal in how they beat each team.
Going undefeated gives FSU the edge. Alabama then moves on to compete with Texas and Texas gets the edge based on head-to head.
They beat 8 bowl teams and scheduled 2 SEC teams as out of conference gamesWhy does "undefeated" give FSU the edge?
What was their SOS?
Undefeated against an easier schedule isn't some great feat (see Liberty).
Can't just blindly revert to "undefeated".
It’s the differentiator, not the sole reason. It’s page 4 of the discussion. Wasn’t going to start over just for you.I was just using the primitive reasoning you did.
So head to head for 1 loss teams.
Does who the loss was to matter?
What about who they beat?
Not saying Bama over Texas, but the "well they beat them" isn't reason enough.
They beat 8 bowl teams and scheduled 2 SEC teams as out of conference games
You cannot do better than win all your games.
Here are the stats...SOR, SOS, FPI, etc..8 bowl teams is good.
So then what is their SOS compared to the rest?
Scheduling "2 SEC teams" doesn't mean anything if the teams ended up bad. Sorry - bad luck.
Unless just because they are "SEC teams" gives them some higher status.
"You cannot do better than win all your games"?
Sounds like you may be on the Liberty bandwagon then.
Michigan, Washington, FSU, Liberty: You cannot do better than win all your games.
Well, if you read my full thought, I said they could not be jumped by a 1 loss team. If all 5 are undefeated or mult Conf Champs have 1 or more losses, then we would have to go through this. Why?
"P5" isn't formally a real designation and it's been established there is no AQ for undefeated conference champ.
What if all 5 "P5" champs were undefeated?
With Bama and Texas, head to head is the only data point. That result says Texas is better. That's the question and distinction.
"Head to head" is only relevant if teams are viewed as equal.
Overall - are Bama and Texas close enough?
Here are the stats...SOR, SOS, FPI, etc..

It does stick out. Stats are stats but I personally keep an eye on game control. If you go by that interestingly it is Michigan, Texas, Washington, Ohio State.Yikes - FSU SOS is 55??
What is SOR? Is it reliable. Makes FSU look good.
Oh but SOR has Alabama over Texas so it must be wrong?
What relevance does that have to this season?Because the SEC has done so poorly in the CFP to date.🤔😂 Fact is the SEC has won 6 of the 9 CFP championships.
You consider LSU and Florida bad? Alabama and FSU had common opponents to compare.
Since I'm a heathen I am fine leaving Liberty out- unless Liberty beat LSU and Florida also.
According to what metric? The information I provided was based on the CFP committee determinations.Bama had the 4th toughest schedule and Texas the 14th.
Based on what I provided, I believe there is. I don’t care about how much the bottom few teams on a teams schedule can impact numbers. Nobody in this type of discussion is losing to them.In my opinion that is not enough to overcome the head to head loss at home.
Not sure you fascination with Liberty- They are not a P5 so unless they do it again like Cincy had to do, and have a weak P5 group, then a G5 really has no chance.Florida was 5-7.
LSU #13 is a good win.
Not as good as Texas (Alabama), Alabama (Georgia) or Georgia (# 11 Ole Miss).
Yes FSU/Bama have common opponents.
But then also other opponents that aren’t as good.
Moral of the story: not as simplistic as “undefeated so they should be in. Can’t do better than your schedule”.
Which you agree with since Liberty should be out.
List the reason for that instead of just making a comment toIf Alabama can get in over Texas why can't Georgia get in over Alabama.
Sound like a smart aleck.Seeing that apparently head-to-head is not that important.
Well- except for the fact that it was head to head at Bama's home...Kind of a big/huge differenceList the reason for that instead of just making a comment to
Sound like a smart aleck.
Here is what has been presented so far to support Texas:
- Texas is better than OU because one should consider the whole season.
- Texas is better than Bama because one should consider only one game.
According to what metric? The information I provided was based on the CFP committee determinations.
Based on what I provided, I believe there is. I don’t care about how much the bottom few teams on a teams schedule can impact numbers. Nobody in this type of discussion is losing to them.
Retarded logicBama had the 4th toughest schedule and Texas the 14th. In my opinion that is not enough to overcome the head to head loss at home.
You all are lucky. If @Plum Street made this prediction you'd never hear the end of it.I think Texas over Georgia. Texas is basically an SEC team soon anyway. Mich-Bama. Washington-Texas. Mich-Texas final. Until Mich loses to Iowa tonight lmao
Well … only when the predictions is ridiculedYou all are lucky. If @Plum Street made this prediction you'd never hear the end of it.
This too. I will stop tooting my own horn now (it's tiring haha)."Scenario 8"... I think if Bama beats Georgia a "poor performance win" by FSU tonight might knock them out. Every talking head will be saying "FSU with their 3rd string qb or Bama on a neutral field - this is supposed to be the 4 best teams?" But more importantly would the committee have the guts to leave out the SEC?
I think FSU needs to win comfortably tonight. The Louisville loss to Kentucky last week was damaging.
