Who do you want to be our next head coach?

Brett MacConnell? Richard Pitino? Pat Kelsey? Chris Mack? Will Wade? Ryan Odom?

He’s gonna hold us hostage and coach out his contract. Hes here till at least 2028. He’s gonna collect $3.5 million to run this program further into the ground than he already has

If Pike is to figure out the portal, we have to give him money to work with. We have a half million alums in the tri state area. If every alum gives 20 bucks that 10 million bucks.

Next year is a pivotal year for Pike at Rutgers. Another year like this year, and his seat will be hot.
His seat is already hot. Unfortunately we're stuck with it burning.
Wait till season Tix renewals and all the Tix available for game day sale next year.

For the 800th time, coaching out his contract is not “holding us hostage” you dumb mother****er
They will find a way to get rid of pike imo unless the program shows some life next year. This is clearly not working and the home record is becoming an embarrassment

Sure but it’s not going to involve Pike voluntarily walking away from millions of dollars like this guy seems to think he should do for “honor” or something.

"They" have to be identified and hired 1st

It really is a rudeness ship currently in Piscataway

Fozzy…would keeping his coaching staff buddies bc there’s no AD or new prez to require change be considered holding the program hostage ?

No? I don’t know? I guess it depends on what his hypothetical reasons are.

I mean if he stops doing his job to the best of ability we can talk but until then it’s nonsense.

Shelby agrees that it’s not holding a program hostage to stay on and continue collecting salary as long as the contract allows, but there are definitely scenarios which would be that.

Pike is here atleast a few more years. And he's not a bad coach. He just hasn't figured out how to operate in this portal/transfer era. But at somepoint he will. Hes gonna be the coach here a long time
You’re right, he’s not a bad coach, he’s a mid coach. Certainly not a great coach. We should demand more, not a guy that is just an okay coach who we hope can somehow figure out how to operate in the portal/transfer era. We deserve someone who has that figured out and can hit the ground running. Instead, we’re dealing with Pike crawling and hoping he can build up to one day running.

He's not a bad coach, he just nukes every opportunity Rutgers has to take control of a game with his subs, doesn't run an offense, can't stop anyone, doesn't get his team ready, allows players with major flaws to repeat the same dumb ass mistakes for months at a time with no accountability, and brings in subpar division 3 talent to fill out his roster.

But outside of that, he's great.

No. He got Ace and Harper to come here precisely because of the showcasing offensive philosophy. players freestyle. That’s the offense. That’s the recruiting pitch. Thats why he gave Cliff the first 3 shots of every game for two years. Showcase opportunities.

Clueless ! With comments like this at least I know why we have been bad for so long.

Not a bad coach? Did you watch the game tonight?

Few years left of what? He hasn’t figured it out? So. We just let him hang out and be awful while he try’s to figure it out?

Pike is done it’s just easier to accept so we can move on

How could someone be so wrong about everything? If next year's season is worse than this one he's gone. Take that to the bank.

Start with a President that supports athletics and can take on the diminishing press. Next, get an AD with vision, fundraising skills, care for student athletes, but deep desire to win, while having skills to take on the press. Tall order for our program.

What in the world ever gave you the idea that Rutgers could/would do any of that ?

Forgetting that Pike might also want out too. Big East school seems to be his natural fit given NIL landscape

I don't know how the finances would work out, but my gut tells me that Danny Hurley would like to come home.

get a donor, a ten year contract, and a dump truck full of money.
Lmao you guys are even dumber than I thought.

Do you guys really, seriously, think that if we had the ****ing donor base to hire the back to back national championship coach away from UConn + the NIL budget he would require that we would be watching the dumpster fire we are currently watching?????

Disagree. Pike should be fired after this year. RU must move on. He has had his chances and failed. He is a very poor talent evaluator. 9 years as coach and has only one tournament win...enough said. Yesterday RU could not even execute a simple inbounds play. To put JWil in the position of running this offense is mind boggling.

I'm pretty sure there was a serious question/suggestion about hiring Spags as DC.
This was even before they lost the Super Bowl.

Why stop at Hurley?
Mark Daigneault just won NBA COY and led the Thunder to a #1 seed last year.
He's from Massachusetts.
Maybe he wants to come back to the NorthEast?
