Good spacing by Colombia...Hayes's man moves quickly to the perimeter which makes Hayes ability to help on penetration tougher.

I just looked up that kid - #2 on Columbia
He's a 45% 3pt shooter this year.

Now imagine that is 27% JWill, 23% Davis or 23% Derkack in that corner.
The decision is easy to contest the layup and force the kick out for a likely missed 3.

This is why many criticize the NBA for "no defense".
This play looks like terrible defense by Hayes. But if he crashes in it gives a likely easy 3pt shot.
Give up the 2 instead of the 3.

Nearly every player in the NBA is closer to #2 on Columbia than Davis/Jwill/Derkack.
It's constantly a choice between the lesser of two evils.

To your point...with good spacing it is very difficult to defend the entire court. It is why the game to me is broken and why so many attempts are taken from 3. Also why Ace probably has more value than Dylan in the NBA. The release is quicker and he is so long so he has the tools to defend the line better
