Props to Gov. Murphy for Supporting RU Football

Where is Wimsatt?
That's a good question (and Noah has a glove on his throwing hand):

These reactions are why I can't stand politics. It's entirely possible to be conservative or dislike Murphy but still realize it was nice / good for him to do that (even if it was politically motivated$.
The post that got the most likes is the fake phony smile one. We finally have a Governor that is all in on Rutgers and we have people complaining . This is why we can't have nice things

He's probably the most Pro-RU Governor we've had, since I can remember....regardless of politics. Not sure if it's him on his own recognizing the importance of Rutgers / Rutgers sports, or if Holloway has something to do with getting him engaged. I also think Holloway is the best leader we've had at RU in many years. I think both of them will be important in helping to change the culture. I mean that both from an Athletics perspective as well as an Academics perspective. All Rutgers alumni, students, the state residents, etc. should be proud of the overall state university.

The good thing is that his support extends beyond athletics so the RU 100, 5, 2 or whatever they are these days shouldn't complain.

I'm not sure how political it is when Murphy is term limited. Not sure what office he could be running for aside from President...and if supporting RU is a qualification for that, we're better off than I thought!

In any case, the fact is that Rutgers fans and alums are now a constituency to be courted and heard, as it should be- at a time when he doesn't he have a race coming up- is big.

Murphy (not from NJ and no connection to RU) has been a great outspoken supporter of RU sports. More so than any Governor in the last 50 years and probably ever (the only governor in recent memory with an RU degree was Florio who I believe went to Camden law). Thank you Gov. Murphy.

can't stand the guy and he doesn't without an alterior motive. It is good however, to have him engaged with RU at all levels. My fear is he looks around and thinks, looks good, we can cut some funding

NOT is right, RU alums and students should be courted and that should bode well for us

LOL. The last budget allocated over 100M to both athletics and academics.

Which is what, 100M times more than his predecessor?

Maybe Murphy should have called Brey and ask how to shut the program down?
As certain judges say…never trust a guy in a turtleneck.

True. I was just trying to make the point that it's possible to dissociate what's good for Rutgers and what's good for you or a politician. That's crazy talk to some.

Anyone who doesn’t see this for what it is being hood winked. Phil Murphy isn’t donating any of his Goldman Sachs millions to Rutgers . Murphy is not adverse to using tax payers $$$$ as long as it looks favorably upon him. Still we should be glad the state funding is more today than in the past. Can’t wait to see the estimated costs for a Rutgers football upgrade on practice and Hale Center.

I started the thread on the Round Table on this topic.

This is my follow up later on…

“I look it this way…your biggest game of the season and the boss comes by for a pep talk.

Whether you agree/voted for him or not…it’s kinda big and B1G time when you think about it.”

All that really needs to be said IMO.

Murphy's killing it for RU FB and you're just so, so mad. How petty.
did he get state funding for the footballpractice facility? I must have missed that ? Hes more concerned about law abiding citizing and retired law enforcement not having guns in NJ.
