PSU - MN game last night

I honestly am asking, because you always say "sense of urgency and accountability" about Rutgers becoming a winning program. What do you suggest we do? Does shouting and complaining on a message board make it happen faster? Do you really think Pikiell and crew aren't trying to win?

I actually think consistency and strategy are what this team needs. It, unfortunately, takes time, and resetting the clock won't make it happen any faster.
Fans come on message boars to express their opinion and I don't think my comments are shouting.I am expressing the viewpoint of long suffering fans who are tired of watching 12 straight losing seasons and constantly ranked at the bottom of the B1G.

Your comments are very similar to what is said on the football message board talking about patience ,process and it takes time to build a program. What you fail to understand is that losing impacts perception making it far more difficult to attract difference maker recruits that are as talented as league rivals.

I don't know what consistency and strategy you are talking about other than keeping head coaches for more than 3-5 years.

I understand that losing impacts a lot.

But what do you mean by accountability and urgency? Explain to me what has to happen to accomplish that. I don't like the losing, but it's not like I think this coaching staff is trying to lose because "Oh we have 8 years to win". I think they want to win this year, but understand that they have a team that needs to learn how.

If repeating the same thing without offering a viable solution, then what is the point in stating the obvious...and there's no guarantee that a program that has won the prior years, is destined to stay there.

If schools make bad coaching hires and aren't financially successful, it's pretty basic to me what the issue is. I believe the program has added in the last 2 classes, enough players to stabilize the program and then the discussions of PSU or Northwestern can happen.

The league is going to have 8 to 10 NCAA bids out of 14 teams. Last year it was just 4 teams making the dance. It's possible that the league always has 8 to 10 NCAA caliber teams most years but unlikely or it's cyclical.

I will state that i would be shocked if Chambers is fired. But nothing surprises me these days.

unfortunately for Pikiell fans are frustrated from 28 years of losing so while they may be doing all their best to win, when RU could be headed to a 1-3 win conference mark in 20 games I dont see how anyone can call out fans for any complaint...IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT PIKIELL IS NOT RECRUITING AT THE LEVEL HE NEEDS TO......THAT HAS TO CHANGE LIKE PRONTO because starting next year he will be judged on wins and losses.

I am sure Pat Chambers and Brad Underwood are doing their best as well, if I were to make a wager I would say than two years from now they will be gone

RU can improve but as someone said earlier if its not at the level of the rest of the Big 10 than it will not matter and RU will perennially be the doormat

I don't know if you're talking about me. I have no problem with people being frustrated.

But when people talk about "urgency" over and over and over again, I'd like to know what that means. Because I really don't think Pikiell is sitting behind his desk saying, "Well... no hurry." I think he's trying to teach the game as best he can and get things moving as quickly as he can. But when your team is this young and you recruiting at a level where talent needs to be developed over the course of years... urgency still takes time.

Has Pikiell recruited good enough to win in the B1G? Resounding NO

Has Pikiell recruited to expectations given the laundry list of reasons why our program is unattractive? My answer is maybe

People really underestimate 2 things
1. How hard it is to recruit to Rutgers
2. Learning curve going from low major to best conference

How could you be shocked if Chambers is fired after 8 years and no NCAA appearances? I know he had an NIT run but I certainly think it is reasonable to expect more from Pike if he makes 8 years. I think Chambers was on the hot seat a few years ago but then had a big recruiting class to buy some more time. Now some of those guys are gone and he looking at a near bottom finish again this year. To me it would be sign that they care less about basketball than I thought.

well the thing is how much does PSU care...if they dont care much, he could come back but what if they go 1-19 or 2-18 in league that leaves them like 9-23 or 8-24, I think Chambers had his shot last year and blew it. I think if he gets by this year, its the following year he gets canned for sure....where is he taking the program next year?

You wonder if it is a big, small or no knock the off court stuff with Watkins. One thing to lose, but another to have bad apples.

I don't think your first question can be answered until mid-season next year.

Don’t think we cover but hope I’m wrong!

Cover your @$$ (nothing personal)….we need to play like the Angry MOFO from Maryland (Fernando?).

Play angry...play smart, make your shots (from the field, from 3 / from the FT line). Stop the Turnovers, rebound like a mother and
play Tenacious D!!!

Yes I wish we played like the most dominant big in the conference and future draft pick Bruno Fernando LOL just not the case. I think Maryland can win the league provided he can stay out of foul trouble which I think he can - seems to be a smart player and actually an amazing passer out of the post and double team specifically - which is why Maryland gets so many good looks from 3.

IMO you can’t double Fernando and beat Maryland. Curious to see what Izzo does tonight.
