Purdue fan site warns Rutgers.dont hire Hazell

I understand why Purdue fans don't have a high opinion of Hazell.

"Hazell wasn’t just fireable at Purdue. He was heroically inept as head coach. We’re talking 9-33 in three and a half seasons, with four of those victories coming in FCS “you have no excuse to lose” games".

Hazell wasn't a failure at Purdue because he doesn't understand how to coach. He failed at Purdue because Purdue's talent is at the bottom of the B1G. After winning at Kent, he all of sudden forgot everything he learned? He became an X's and O's moron?

Please. Being a head coach is about recruiting. If you don't recruit well, you'll lose. That goes for Hazell, Ash, Urban Meyer and everyone else.

The one thing that would make me think twice about hiring Hazell for OC
is a lack of experience at that position.
Being a ex P-5 HC with success at the none P-5 level would be a plus, but RU needs someone that is a good experienced OC first and foremost, because the last one was hoped to be ready for the job and that didn't pan out.

That's why he wouldn't be on my list. Has he even been a coordinator? I don't want another Brady Hoke type fail where he was the DC at Oregon after never having been a DC in his career despite being a HC at 3 stops.

Excellent points. Scratch him.

Did he have play calling duties as head coach when Kent St beat us in the game that probably got him the head coaching job at Purdue?

GO RU

Hazell? WTF? That sounds like one of those :throw sh!t against the wall and hope no one notices" slide shows from NJ.com.

No way they would consider him.

nobody has any clue who is on his short list. We had virtually no leaks last hiring cycle doubt we will this time either.

As long as we don't hire Alabama's water boy and get excited because he's from Saban's staff.

But they have someone that might be a good one as a consultant and if Steve Sarkisian runs the spread offense ( I think he's pro set and that's not what Ash wants) and Saban doesn't replace Kiffin with him, he might be available. That is if LSU doesn't go after him.
Drinking was his downfall
