In reference to the note that this game will be the first home game to be broadcast nationally on over the air television, is it true?

"CHICAGO (Oct. 18, 2015) – The Rutgers football game versus No. 1 Ohio State will air nationally on ABC, the Big Ten office announced Sunday. An 8 p.m. start at High Point Solutions Stadium, it will be the first RU football home game in program history to broadcast on the network nationally.

The Scarlet Knights have previously appeared at home on ABC with a regional designation."

I have people saying that the centennial game 1969 and the WVU LeGrand game were national.

I always thought the centennial game with Schenkel and that WVU game were regional broadcasts.

Any links or information you can provide to confirm this?

I did find this in researching this:

"The 100-year anniversary game in 1969 was nationally televised by ABC (a rarity back then) and, according to a Rutgers University Archives document on how the Centennial Football Game was put together, "various celebrities and significant political figures were invited, including President Richard Nixon, who declined because of his schedule.''

I believe this is the first national telecast from Rutgers campus stadium on the ABC TV Network (ESPN and others not included).

Rutgers has appeared many times on regional ABC TV meaning you might have the game broadcast in the New York market or the Atlanta market or the Boston market but not necessary all the other regions across the country.

In 1969, the Rutgers-Princeton Centennial Game could be seen on ABC TV with Chris Schenkel and Bud Wilkinson in the New York market and in the Boston market and D.C. But out in Chicago you were watching a B1G game. It was a market-to-market choice that September 27, 1969.

I believe you are correct that the Rutgers-West Virginia game of October 29, 2011 was broadcast on a regional basis. On a related matter, the Rutgers-West Virginia game in 1983 was at West Virginia and was a nation-wide broadcast on WTBS-TV, Atlanta, GA (Turner Broadcasting System).

Unofficial "official" rumors had Nixon wanting to attend the Centennial Game. Rutgers officials met with Secret Service at the Stadium weeks before the game. On campus protesters immediately began planning for his visit (this was the height of the Vietnam War era and students without deferments were being drafted to go overseas). The week of the game, word leaked out he wouldn't attend. But since he never formally announced he would attend, it went down as something he couldn't fit into his schedule.

If you are referring to the 2006 WVU game, I am not sure. Thought that was NOT on ABC TV national broadcast (ESPN I think????). If you are referring to the Rutgers-West Virginia game in 1983, that was at West Virginia and was a nation-wide broadcast on

Referring to the October 29, 2011 game vs WVU.

ABC regional or national?

I swear I remember watching RU-Princeton in '69 in Missouri. It's the day I started following RU.

Maybe just highlights?

As I said earlier, you very well could have seen the Centennial Game out in Missouri. But it was a market-by-market call. So the local ABC outlet in Missouri may have decided to carry it while the local ABC outlet in say, Sacramento, may not have.

Are our tv revenues an agreed number ( I think in the B1G they are, as the conference has an equal revenue sharing system among it's membership - we're just not at 100% yet), or is there more revenue for us with the national broadcast (would be nice, but I don't think so, just asking)?
