Was just wondering how your recruiting is going. I know it's an uphill battle after what Flood left, but I do think you're on the right track. Anyway, good luck and hopefully get a few playmakers and some depth.

Better than expected if they all stay committed. Last time I looked Rivals had us at 31 nationally. We are 8th in the B1G.

How are the Hawkeyes doing?

Compared to the classes Flood brought in, this year is a major upgrade so far. It addresses obvious needs at QB, LB, OL, and WR. Ash has recruited a lot of speed overall which was lacking big time. The class is currently ranked #31 which is anywhere from 15-40 places higher than we've seen the past 3 years.

With a class size expected to be anywhere from 25-30 there are still a number of spots open. They are still scouring the country for a couple of pass rushing DE's, another DT, RB's, and at least 1 kicker.

Ash has made inroads in NJ and it shows in the # of top 20 recruits. There are still a number of talented uncommitted NJ kids, especially on the defensive side. The staff is still working them but it's an uphill battle going against OSU and Mich with a couple.

After the 2-10 season and the blowouts / shut outs, if Ash keeps the majority of the commits, I'd give him a B+ for recruiting this year.

Well I used the word GOOD as Fogg is that
note Fatukasi is a Soft commit and Onyechi is a 2 star athlete he is undersized and is raw will need 2 years for weight and brains to play LB note. But I like that Army, Navy Harvard and AF chose CJ it means he is smart and can learn)
We need LB support sept. 1

Put it this way: You are allowed 25 recruits per year basically, right? Well, Flood was here for 4 years, so he should have had 100 players. Except, 24 of those 100, or almost an entire year worth of kids, left the team do to getting kicked off/arrested/academic/personal reasons. So Ash was basically playing with 50ish scholarship players this year.

That said, going forward, Ash currently has gotten 9 of the top 25 committed players in New Jersey, including 2 of the top 3 overall. For comparison, I don't think Flood has 2 top-10 NJ recruits in his tenure. Also, to compare that to the rest of the conference, of the top 25 announced commits in PA right now, Penn State has 3. Of Ohio's top 25, OSU has 5. Of Michigan's top 25, Harbo has 6. So, I'd say as far as the "to be competitive in the Big Ten, you must first recruit your own state" business, we are doing right alright. Plus, NJ is a known recruiting hotbed as it is, so. There's hope.

I have no idea if Onyechi is raw., and I also have no idea how you can say he is undersized.

On 24/7, he is listed at 6'2", 220. Fogg is listed at 6'2" 216 and Fatukasi is listed at 6'2" 210.

Rivals has Fogg listed at 6'2", 215 and the other two at 6'2" 210.

So Onyechi is basically the same size as our other LB recruits.

But it didn't fit his pessimistic outlook so he ignored the facts.

With 19 commits (including Marsette) we can still fit 5-6 more, barring any de-commits (a few bound to happen?), and the wish list has been stated numerous times on this board.
Let's hope the new OC can help bring in a few more play makers, especially at RB & TE.
I look forward to playing Iowa again, it was certainly one of the more entertaining, and competitive games of the season.

Again like Shimmy wrote his Mom is moving back to Jersey. talking about Fogg.
