Quiet period vs. Commitments?

i understand that a quiet period in recruiting is starting. Does this preclude any new commits? Can I stand down from checking these sites every 2 hours?

You're probably fine with every 3 hrs

A player can always commit, including during dead period. Quiet period still allows in person contact on campus.

I have always wondered if I had to deal with this at 18 what I would have done. Would I have waited until I see how my senior goes and then commit or do I get it over with now? The process was simpler when me and my fellow dinosaurs roamed the earth so I cannot relate to the pressure these current day Uber athletes have to deal with.
