Quote from Ja Morant’s Father

How many people had actually seen a Murray State game? I'd say very few.
I did. I heard about him at the end of last year was interested in seeing him play in case the Knicks picked him. If you are good, you’ll get noticed.

on the broadcast they said despite having a south carolina offer he choose murray state because his dad told him “go where youre needed and wanted, dont go where you just want to go”. Sad to see how in both football and basketball, recruits often just chase the biggest name rather than best fit

Solid advice. A friend of mine's son could have been a star at a D3 school but decided to walk on at a D1 school. He hoped he could eventually sway the coach into playing him. He did get a scholarship senior year but basically never played. He was disappointed that he didn't get more playing time and felt he never got the shot he deserved. "go where you're needed and wanted."

Nonsense...you heard of ISU when Bird and his Sycamore teammates fell to Rutgers one year earlier in the 1978 NIT, which was ISU's last loss until the NCAA final in 1979.
Says you. You gonna say you knew all about bird while he was in high school and shook your head in amazement when he choose Indy State?

Sping of 78 was my frosh year at Rutgers and I didn't know him from squat.

And Morant will have spent his career in a conference against teams like SE Missouri State, Tennessee Tech, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee-Martin rather than challenging himself to compete at a high level night after night in big time atmospheres against the likes of Kentucky and Tennessee. But he will have had one game in the spotlight anyway at Murray State on a Thursday afternoon in March when most people were at work.
Yeah! Just like those forgotten players Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard. In fact, what about that Lebron James guy who never even went up against big time college talent! Shows why he couldn't make the playoffs this year.

Um, you should know Bird had a scholarship to play at Indiana U first, but dropped out.
