RAC is Rockin! Biggest, most athletic team since?

Have you been reading the comments the players have been making all off-season about the team unity and cohesion and better style of ball they are all have bought into?

How about the comments on how this is geo and Eugene’s team and how Eugene calls for informal practices and the team shows up? They are all on the same page....a focused, team oriented page. They are all serious about basketball. Corey was distracted with his music career he cares about.

Even last year he had to sit out portions of games for disciplinary reasons. He was not a pike player. Why have him around any longer to delay the proper progression that this team needs? Because of defense? You think this coaching staff is not gonna have these guys playing defense at a high team level soon?

Some of you guys don’t understand intangibles that players bring to a team. I’m not saying Corey was a bad guy or bad teammate, but all of the comments we have read from not just the coaches but also the players (in cryptic bit clear messages to be respectful to Corey) indicate they feel they are better off without him

Some of you guys don’t understand intangibles that players bring to a team.

Post of the week. Corey isn’t here. Enjoy the guys on this team right now.

The way you converse with people completely sucks. If I googled “arrogant piece of $&/@“, would your pic be there? Seriously dude, can you tone your act down? It is embarrassing.
Was just responding to a post

Man some of you guys dont realize how good of a college player corey was. Youre asking for jacob young over corey? The disrespect man. Jacob Young is a decent player but hes not on coreys level. Jacob young isnt really even a pg, he’s more of a 2

So Corey was more of a PG than Jacob Young will be with a year under these coaches? Dude, you don’t know what you are talking about.

Yes, that is correct. Jacob young has never really played the point. Spoke to some texas guys and they said jacob young is a very me me me type of guy and was a straight shooting guard, no point

We’ll never know because he was surrounded by piss poor talent. Corey tried to get other involved but when they kept failing he had no choice but to take over.

His handle was top notch, very very very much a PG handle. And dont give me the crap about him being right hand dominant

You have no idea what you are talking about. Being a PG has WAYYYY more to do than having a handle. C’mon bro!!

My question was, after a year with this coaching staff, do you really think Young wouldn’t be a better PG than Corey? If you think Corey, who is not a PG, would be a better PG, we will find out in one year.

Guys

Corey was a very good player and we would have helped this program this year

Having said that...as much as I liked Corey ...Corey (and Deshawn also) we’re not the type of players that I think fit with the rest of the new players

Corey and Deshawn never moved off the ball great and off of other screens...the were ball screen payers

It’s a new era and new pieces and while Corey talent is always wanted...I think his skills for a half court offense are not an exact match with the other new pieces and,
What pike really wants to run on offfnse

agree fully....everyone on same page...its what we need to move the program forward

There is a vibe at the RAC that hasn't been felt since the Douby years. I think that at some point this season we will get to experience the old RAC once again, the one where you can't even hear what the person next to you is saying.

Is he our best big or is a healthy and slim doorson better?

Doorson is more experienced, but based on an admittedly small sample size, Johnson has WAY more upside. Softer hands, more touch around the hoop and already a better passer than Shaq.

Nonsense. This team is screaming for a lock down perimeter defender and Sanders was a terrific defensive guard. And I wouldn’t mind his rebounding from the guard spot either.

Him opting for G-league might be the only thing holding us back from being good. You don’t think Coach P would LOVE Sanders on this roster?
We miss his on the ball defense and his rebounding, with the former obvious to me last night. We do not miss him as an offensive player. Gio, Kiss, and Harper can get into the lane and score if need be.

We appear to have one player who is a plus ball handler. I thought that was so obvious I didn’t mention it above. We solve that in a year, but we are dying for another ball handling guard. By a margin it is this teams biggest weakness.

I think this team has a lot of weaknesses and YES Sanders is front and center as the guy that solves them (defense and ball handling. HOWEVER.......our total offensive efficiency the past few years was epicly bad. I think we will find most nights that a unit all playing together on the same page, sharing the game that can all shoot will net net give us better results.

Corey is a very good player but if he was here the offense would still be mostly one dimension. With the guys on the floor now every position must be defended. Also many of our guards would not be getting the experience that they are getting. I hope Corey has a successful professional career.
Rutgers misses Corey on defense where his perimeter defense will be sorely missed as well as his defensive rebounding . On offense they won't miss him. If Mathis continues to improve I can see him helping out on rebounding as well as being a very effective defender. So many guys have stood out so far but I gotta love Kiss. Kiss is a scrappy scorer with energy , passing skills and shooting range that is just the kind of player Rutgers seemingly has forever lacked. Poor man's Havlicek?

The real addition by subtraction on this team is Freeman. He was a black hole on offense, never passed out of double and triple teams and shot at a very low percentage for a PF.

Those who say Young has never played point should look at his high school tapes. He played a lot of point in high-school and was a scoring PG. He has a fantastic handle. When he went to Texas they shifted him to a combo guard.
