RAC Renovations

Give it up Heaven. There won't be a varsity hockey program in our lifetimes unless someone donates hundreds of millions to the athletic department. You've been here long enough to know that it's been explained many times.

...Or unless the B1G wants B1G hockey at RU and funds a men's and women's program for us.

Have you guys been to Temple's arena? I think that's the right size and layout. Downtown, of course. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Tear down the RAC.

I'm guessing you've never attended a live NHL game or experienced the exhilaration of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Been to two hockey games live ever. It was fine. Unwatchable on television. Can't see the puck, only way you know something happened is when siren goes off. The fact that NHL won't stop fighting is an admission that the product on the ice is not good enough to stand on its own.

I'll admit the product has been watered down substantially as Sidney Crosby would be in a wheelchair right now if he played in the 90s with guys like Scott Stevens. The lockouts killed the NHL except for teams with diehard fans like the Flyers or Rangers, Bruins.

You must've gotten that photo in the Chaney era. I attended a Temple hoops game at LC last year and it was 2/3rds empty and that's putting it nicely. That said it is a nice basketball arena.

Forget about hockey already or an arena in downtown New Brunswick. Hockey should not ever be considered at RU until all of the sports programs that were cancelled are restored. I doubt we would ever get many people at a hockey game anyway and the sport would cost an awful lot of money to finance. Now if the BIG 10 wanted to pay for it I could see it. As for an arena in downtown NB there would have to be parking garages several stories high and getting out after a game would be a disaster. We have plenty of parking where the RAC is located.
