You guys complaining about the level of recruit the staff is able to attract right now are either beating a dead horse, or delusional
He's a solid SG who has some strength and will be food for what we are doing now. Have to develop the players we have to win so we can grab other players

Last year the Big Ten network had the top ten Rutgers players. of all time. 4 of the top ten were not recruited highly. Battle, Hinson, Bailey and Douby. Didn't mike Jarvis say the Douby was not good enough for the Johnnies? hinson would have gone to Wagner instead of Ru and played for PJ.
Shields -- that's 4 players over 40+ years. For every Battle there have been 10 Justin Goodes and 10 Justin Sofmans.

my point is kids have to work also. Hinson worked his ass off. Hard to recruit when everyone is saying fire the guy. And 4 of our top 10 players were not highly recruited. Have the article right here.
Bailey was recruited by Tufts. It is amazing how often schools miss good players and rating services are wrong. Tripp made 1st team all Brooklyn last year and is apparently 6'4" or 6'5" tall. Why do some posters always have to put down some of these kids? I can never understand that.
At least this kid, although lightly recruited is from Lincoln. You know he won't play soft or intimidated. Maybe can be like another lightly recruited kid from there who has made a significant impact in Seton Hall's Desi Rodriguez.
All else being equal, I'll take my chances with a lightly recruited NYC kid that play with toughness and swag like a mike sherrod or Jerome Coleman type over diallo, Goode types that we have been getting

Kid has really good form on outside shot. I don't care what the percentage is in the gym if the mechanics are wrong. That catches up to you in higher levels
This kid is able to muscle shots up on the drive in someone face. Eli was the last guy who could do some of that and I can't think of the last one before that
We need a physical 2 guard who can play wing
This is a good pick up and an excellent spring pick up. We will have to fight off high majors for this kid this spring. Need to make this stick
Now we Need to exact the SAME exact style player from the JUCO ranks for next year....and thiam

Honestly, with it being this late in the game this is a really good pick up. You're getting a legit 6'4 SG with size and that has playmaking ability. Don't know much else about the kid other than he was shot and recovered..but his size is obvious and is a need for Rutgers

Nobody knows how this recruit will do at Rutgers.Hopefully,he will be a solid contributor .The problem Rutgers has faced for the last 25 years is collectively recruiting has been a disaster.There simply have been too many complementary type players and not enough go to scorers.
Yes, he didn't begin to shine until his Jr year.
There are a lot of players that are from Lincoln High in Brooklyn.

I never noticed Battle when he played as a freshman, his second year it was like "who is this guy?".... I don't know if stats back that up, but he had the best freshman to sophomore betterment that I had ever seen at RU.
Who cares? We're not getting 5-stars. I just want taller guys that can shoot like Jax Levitch. Look at his offer sheet.

I think Battle only averaged 5 ppg as a freshman and jumped up to I think over 20 as a soph. He also had knee surgery one year and missed I think 3 weeks. When he returned he was as tough as ever. He was a real find for RU.

Well we needed to sign somebody. Cant comment much on how he will turn out other than his offer sheet is pretty weak. Sure he can be a diamond in a rough but I chuckle that people already seemed to feel he is a diamond in the rough with no evidence yet. Lets see if he is another Battle or another Ryan Johnson. Its a pickup and we need bodies
Welcome to the banks. In watching the video what struck me was when he drove to the basket on the left side, he used his left hand to go up with a layup. That shows me he has learned good fundamental basketball and has practiced it thousands of time so that, that shot is just as natural as his right hands (natural) layups. His shooting mechanics from outside look to be sound as well. The fact we just got this kid after having no one is remarkable to me considering I've lost faith in EJ's ability to coach and recruit.
Quinnipiac, Fairfield, Manhattan..things are looking up. Several of our current players couldn't break a MAAC starting lineup.
Does that say more about the talent/skill level of those players, or the talent/skill level of all the other players who passed through our doors? When you are rarely getting highly recruited guys, of course some of your best players will be guys who weren't highly recruited.
