@Riotsquad - Dylan Harper is taking on DJ Wagner this Friday….looks like they just moved the game to Kean University due to demand.

I know it’s holiday break but this is a great opportunity to show some Rutgers support for Dylan. This went a long way with Cliff!

It'll be an entertaining game.. But Camden is going to make easy work of Don Bosco. Camden is loaded. Somehow they even added a 4 star kid from Tennessee. I get he came to Camden for the exposure, but transferring from Tennessee to Camden, is wild

Camden schools have an excellent reputation outside of New Jersey. In state, we don't appreciate them.

I thought Camden was under investigation after it came out that none of the kids went to Camden public schools lol

Gonna go out on a limb and and say nothing comes of it lol, not these days!

Improving the school systems in Camden has been a major priority for some years now. Wasn’t speaking on it in that sense. Just odd that a kid all the way from Tennessee - would come all the way to Camden. But he did just get a Kentucky offer. So guess it was worth it

There have been stories written about the attraction there.

Remember when Franey turned Bound Brook into a Choice School and all of a sudden they had state contending wrestling team

Growing up, I was always told Camden was to put it politically correct "a place you don't want to be outside in".

Is Camden not as bad any more?
The 30 United States cities with the highest number of murders per 1,000 residents in 2022. The Neighborhood Scout used cities in their research that had at least 25,000 residents. Camden was #24 with 0.32 murders/1000 residents.

Camden has a lot of new waterfront development. But the neighborhoods still struggle. The idea that anyone would voluntarily choose to be in Camden public schools is definitely surprising.

Camden has specialty (HS) schools within the district. The kids from those schools can play sports at Wilson or Camden Highs. It's similar to the Paterson school district. Paterson has Rosa Parks Performing Arts, International Business, etc., but kids can choose Eastside or JFK for sports.

Thanks for the info. Yes I suppose it's totally plausible that Camden has some good magnet schools.

This is a tough match up for Dylan. DJ is a year older, much more polished, and plays with a very high motor/level of intensity that you would expect to see from a professional, not a high school kid. It‘s no secret his father and grandfather have been very involved in his development, and is likely where this comes from. Dylan may have a higher ceiling long term, but right now DJ Wagner is a much better basketball player.

Pulling for Dylan and Bosco. They have their work cut out for them, but hopefully they'll be a little better rested than Camden.

As was mentioned previously, Camden is loaded, but they did play tonight in Florida and lost to Christopher Columbus of Miami 75-66, and have to fly back and be at Kean on Friday for the Bosco game... Columbus High is led by the Boozer brothers..(Carlos Boozer's sons.)

Anybody know if these tix need to be purchased in advance and where?

Thanks for checking!

That article doesn't give any details either, assuming it's first come until their max #is hit. That gym is not huge if I recall correctly.

Kean gym seating capacity is listed as 2,500.

The NJSIAA hearing regarding Camden and potential recruiting violations is scheduled for this coming Monday, Jan 9th.. It'll be interesting to see what happens, if anything does.

Nothing will happen until the season is over for DJ and Aaron Bradshaw, and honestly nothing will probably happen after that. They aren’t doing anything different than what all the big Catholic schools are doing.

But it it's a public school right? What catholic schools do is irrelevant

At the end of the day everything done at Camden was to make sure DJ had a strong supporting cast so they could go out and play the best teams in the country. But why shouldn’t an inner city school like Camden be able to field a top team just like the Catholic schools do? And I commend the Wagner family for staying true to their roots and keeping DJ at Camden. He has been at best player at his age since he was about 12, and his family could have sent him to any basketball factory to play, but instead kept him home.

I've heard that 4 of 5 starters for Camden are not actually from Camden. There are different rules for Catholic schools than for public. No recruiting....wink...wink.
Camden does have the awesome Wagner kid and a 7' center good enough to get a spot with the Kentucky Wildcats. And several other quality players.
Dylan is gonna need some help.
Is the game really gonna be aired on Showtime ?

I mean I agree with the sentiment, but the kids still have to live in Camden to attend the school. It's a public school. Different rules as there should be.

What about an actual Camden kid who is sitting the bench while some kid who doesn't even live there is playing over him?

DJ Wagner doesn’t live in Camden either

Wagner doesn't live in the City of Camden. He commutes 25 minutes every day from some far-out point in East Camden County. Kids from outside of the district can attend Camden City schools through programs unique to Camden to help the school district. They have magnet schools to attract talent from outside of Camden. Most of the kids on the basketball team come to Camden through this program.
