Looking at all the teams in the Big Ten and most of them still have to prove themselves on the road against a quality opponent. Rutgers has one decent road win against a quality opponent in VT , the other teams have yet to win without the luxury of home games . Michigan just lost to Washington on the road and USC lost to Minnesota and Michigan , so let’s see how Ohio State handles Oregon on the road next .

I don’t know how we’ll look going forward. D seemed to figure things out late in the game. More sacks in the last quarter than the rest of the season. Offense struggled, but in fairness, adjusting to the loss of Felter in a hostile environment was a lot to ask of them.

All things considered - despite how bad we played, a lot had to go wrong for us to lose this game.

1) Gusting winds making FGs on one side of the field impossible. Considering Nebraska has the worst kicking game in FBS and we don’t have an explosive offense, this was a huge disadvantage for us. We passed up a 42 yard attempt on paper, but it was more than just this. Definitely impacts a grind it out style when the opponent knows it doesn’t help to get into FG territory.

2) 52 yarder hitting upright in other direction.

3) Bad spot on questionable call crossing the plane preventing TD.

4) Black point blank missing sure TD pass.

4) 95 degree heat with our team’s base in blazing sun - them in shade first half of game.

Some might point to their poor punting and say look at their “mistakes” but I don’t see it that way. Thats Nebraska’s norm. Their kicking game flat out sucks beyond belief. They executed a trick play. Ours didn’t work. But the reality is - given how bad their kicking is in normal conditions the weather was a huge advantage for them.

PSU flying out to USC as well. Posted some stats in the games thread about teams in the B10 traveling away at least 2 timezones and the record is like 1-8 or something like that. A decent Cal team losing inexplicably at FSU? Miami barely escaping (with help of the refs) at Cal?

I was wondering if travel would be an issue for teams (specifically the B10 west coast ones) and about the cumulative effect of it and early on it seems like it could be an issue. Some said these are young guys no big deal but who knows.

Heard on a pod that USC hasn't won a game in the eastern or central time zone since 2012...they're 0-10

Ohio Sate is going to have their hands full. Should be a good one.

Yea posted a tweet in the games thread showing a bunch of coaches that have 5-7 records in the last 12
Not sure that's where I saw it, but when I write my manifesto "Useless Facts About the 2023-2024 College Football Seasons," I will attribute credit to you!
Been an interesting season.

Listened to Finebaum's show for a bit today, which as mostly about the Alabama loss. It was comedy gold.
