Ok so here late in 3rd Q. RU traveling band just played hail to the victors. That should never happen.
Big Ten bands always play the visitor's fight song.
Why not, there are no more Rutgers fans in the stands to play our fight song too.Not joking. Also not main band in student section, but a part of band that walks through the stadium.
He's retiring after this season anyway. About time, need new bloodYeah, Hobbs needs to fire the band director.
In fairness they did play our fight song after I posted this. If they do it at other stadiums, I apologize. I just didnt want to hear that song in my home stadium down 50 something points. Why not, there are no more Rutgers fans in the stands to play our fight song too.
Don't apologize, you are right to point it out as it is completely unacceptable under the circumstances. I don't give a shit that the kids practiced the song, anyone with a sense of context would not allow that to happen. In fairness they did play our fight song after I posted this. Those band members should be suspended. That's inexcusable. Embarrassing.
Yes. Should never happen. You shut it.Oh shut it. "Should be suspended." Please.
Yes. Should never happen. You shut it.
Two things:
#1. They're probably doing what the band director is telling them to do. Why punish the kids?
#2. That's a completely over-reactive punishment for playing the song of another school. Chill your nuggets.

I doubt that the band director sent them into the Michigan section and told them to play "Hail to the Victors" during the worst loss in almost 130 years. If he did, then he should be gone. I've never heard anything like it.
Not their fight song.Dude's retiring, and they've been walking around in opponent's sections playing songs for two years now.
Not their fight song.
Before the game is fine. If it's happening later, then it's just embarrassing. The game was embarrassing enough.Yeah, their fight song. Iowa fan actually complimented us on it last week in a thread, saying it was an enjoyable trip and he thought it added to the welcoming atmosphere.
Just look at what our fans think in the thread. If Michigan was losing by 30, they wouldn't be so nice. Go to bed now little boy. It's past your bedtime.ALSO, to quote a band member.
"I am proud to call myself a Marching Scarlet Knight. I'm honored to play the visiting team's fights songs every week. I'm grateful for the looks of pure joy on people's faces and the cheers we get when the opposing team realizes we're playing their song for them. And I am disappointed in the so called Rutgers fans who find it necessary to yell at members of our band for playing Michigan's fight song today. Maybe if you guys stuck around for the entire game AND post-game, the band could teach you a thing or two about respect, sportsmanship, and hospitality."
And from the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, with a video of the band.
"Now this is some first-class hospitality. Thank you, Rutgers University Marching Band.#GoBlue"
Quoting people on that thread:
"Thank you Rutgers. Very classy and great gesture. I hope we return the favor when you come too Ann Arbor."
"Very classy and I salute the Rutgers marching band and their excellent academic institution."
"Way classier than going for a 2 point conversion when you're up by 27....GO BUCKS!! ❤️"
"Something you will NEVER see in Columbus....Real class at Rutgers....no class EVER at osu"[/QUOTE
THANK GOD THAT LYING BAND DIRECTOR OF OURS IS GONE AFTER THIS SEASON! I have ZERO problem with the band playing it BEFORE the game, I actually like that tradition, but playing it for their fans DURING the game?
I'd fire that weasel-looking douche today and pull his pension. Un-f*cking-believable. :uzi:
