Literally anybody. This shooting is historically bad. If Pikiell can't bring in guys to bring guys to raise that from historically bad even to merely poor, then he shouldn't be coaching.
90% of unsigned 3-star guys (rough estimate). It's not my job to recruit. But when he signs guys like Souf Mensah and half the board here (accurately) calls it out as a terrible signing, that's a big problem.
now I know why that billboard at the RAC asks if I suffer from addiction..............
I wished that wasn't the case but being a long time season ticket holder misery is part of the rebuild process that takes decades for completion only to find that the process starts over again.
Only need 6 for 36 to score more, in theory. But 6 might be a stretch for us too.
The inside post players have great difficulty making layups,dunks and baby hook shots.

my point is that their coach had them ready to play after a very tough loss, exactly the same situation as us
and they played a night game, so we even had a few more hours rest.
it is a matter of comparing the coaching staffs getting the teams mentally ready..... theirs did, ours did not.
you are looking at play this guy, sit that guy....that is not the point....it is the overall team being ready
we scored 43 in a game where Indiana played just okay, If Indiana played like they did tonight against most Big 10 teams they lose by 15 or more
it is definitley fair game to call Pike out for Mensah..he is a gigantic miss...and yes it matters in light of a transfer sitting, Johnson redshirting and Bullock MIA...bad roster management
Everybody knows about the lack of talent which only gets worse with two injured players.At the same time its upsetting to watch the Rutgers offense which clearly lacks in execution .The waste of time passing the ball around the perimeter of the foul line results in rushed shots by Sanders Freeman and Baker as the shot clock winds down.There rarely is a attempt to feed the ball inside and when its tried ,the player fails to make the basket.Bottom line is that there are very few open shots and a lack of players capable of creating shots off the dribble.End result scoring less than 50 points which won't win any league games.
this game was much different than games against Stony Brook and Hartford IMO and those with full rosters....RU does not run an offense, its running the shot clock down with bad spacing and telegraphed passes and then relying on one and one move to score..usually Freeman in the first half which fails miserably and then Corey in the 2nd which only works when his shot is on
There’s a simple word for programs like us: doormat. I’ve accepted it. That is why I only read this board to read the same posts over and over again and have not seen a single game this season.
We were lucky injury-wise most of the year. Two injuries is not uncommon. However, with us, two injuries causes a situation where you had Dadika, Mensah, and Bullock on the court at the same time. We couldn’t win a D2 game doing that....and two of those players are on scholarship. That’s just bad roster management. With this team, you need either Sanders or Baker on the court at all times.

Waters found Jerome Coleman out of nowhere and how about that team went from very mediocre talent coming into the year to flirting with a NCAA bid. At some point coaches that turn things around get lucky. Pike has this great respected staff, they have to work some magic for a juco guy that can hit 3s.
Here is the thing you are missing.
Our newcomers don’t have to be better than the rest of the leagues’s newcomers.
They just have to be better than...

Team came out with low energy/effort. Sanders/Baker/Thiam were hounded on the perimeter, getting double teams on every screen and unable to penetrate or get open looks - they were running 5 guards at our 3 all night . Freeman was largely absent on both offense and defense in the first half. Lazy close outs on shooters lead to Indiana hitting a scorching rate from range early (5 of 7 in the first 11 min, accounting for 15 of their first 22 pts) and again coming out of halftime (3 of 4 in the first 8 min of the 2nd half).
Baker was the only scorer who shot his normal rate (.363, .500 from range)... the rest of the team went a combined 9 for 43 (21%) and 2 of 10 from range (20%)

but they do have to be better than the other teams newcomers if we are going to pass them in the standings
The first question is whether the addition of Carter, Mathis, Kiss, Johnson, and Harper will more than counteract the loss of Freeman, Williams, Sa, and Dadika.
I think it will.
The second question is how much improvement will we see out of our almost certain returnees: Baker, Omoruyi, Thiam, Doucoure. I think all take steps forward - but remains to be seen what level of improvement we see. Need the most growth out of Doucoure and Thiam, imo.
The third question is what happens with the "at risk" scholarships: Sanders, Doorson, Bullock, Mensah.
I think there are positive gains out of the first two questions.... too much unknown about that third question to say whether we'll be better next year. How those four roster spots turnout could make a big difference.
