Wrestling RU Wrestling beats Indiana, 29-7

Really weird “no comment” response to the Suriano question at the end.

Yea the no comment is strange. Sounds like no Nick

Yea, he seemed a little annoyed at question. Nick is not enrolled in classes and the semester already started so he is out for this year. I thought there might be an outside chance he came back 2nd semester, but did not think he would come back next year. I still feel his college career is over and he is finished at RU. If you injected the coaching staff with truth serum, I think down deep they dont mind.

I think he commented that way because they have no idea what Nick wants to do since he is training in Italy and then Russia I think. Goody did not want a long discussion over what if’s.

Last night was a great example of Division 1 wrestling parity even when a kids record might not reflect his talent ...Gerard Angelo didn’t care that he was wrestling a ranked kid and just showed how dangerous he can be in some of his power positions despite being heavily an underdog ..kudos to GA on that great win ....a kids record in my opinion means almost nothing ..the 157 pounder MVB beat had a terrible record but nearly beat AA last year and if you were there last year you know that was a hell of a scare ..he has to be one of the best kids at that weight with a terrible record so kudos to MVB with a really smart win ....the 184 lb guy also had bad record yet gave Billy J all he could handle so way to go Billy in gritting out that win ..my point is all these kids are equal when they step on a division 1 mat and no win at this level should be knocked because of an opponents record ..my 90 minute drive to RU matches is well worth it when I see gritty matches like I see almost every match at the RAC and one reason you will never see me rip a kid for losing to a supposed lesser talented kid ..and vice versa ...any given night any thing is possible and we see it both ways all the time ..

:100points: Well said! It’s peaking at the right time & hopefully, that’s in March.

Go RU!

Nick Suriano is not coming back to Rutgers because Suriano's father told Reece Humphreys and Coach Goodale to go F themselves ( everyone knows what happened and saw it).Humphreys allegedly brought Nato in to train ( which Nick and his father thought was a dick move, because they where both training for the Olympics). That's why Suriano switched to the NYC wrestling club ( or whatever it's called).I think it is safe to say that Nick Suriano will never wear a RU Wrestling singlet again.I think Coach Goodale and staff comfortably knew what they where getting when Suriano came in...a packaged father/son deal.

To your credit, you were the first person to hint at Suriano transferring to RU before anyone else had that info (i.e. the infamous "oceanliner"). I believe you, even though it is an unfortunate ending.

Lol...I didn’t know that happened ...

Your right I remember Silva did give AA a tough match last year.
Probably the closest AA came to losing last year ..despite his record he is no slouch ..when guys rip kids for losing to kids with a bad record it make my blood boil ..probably never wrestled a day in their lives but rip kids not knowing anything about the level of competition of Division 1 wrestlers as a whole

Actually it was pronounced sh*tliner. But thanks for being G-rated about it. Actually it was campolattano that I first knew was transferring. Suriano I found out later on. I do receive the most criticism for the people that aren't in the "know". I was an Rutgers Wrestler, and have very close ties and connections with the RU wrestling community. Because of these ties,I get first-hand info. Wait till you see who transfers in next semester. A highly decorated upper weight guy,who hates his current college coach. The RU Community is going to be jumping up and and wearing depends adult diapers from wetting themselves with pure happiness

Makes sense why he’s not around the program, trains elsewhere, didn’t come to banner raising, etc.

Wow. Hopefully that's true. How much eligibility?

Gonna assume a grad transfer at 197. Could be a freshman in redshirt I guess. Michael Beard is a nice pipe dream.

Next year, I imagine the upper 4 weights are Grello, Janzer, Correnti. If Janzer bumps up, it leaves 184 open for Poz. If only Correnti bumps up which I think ultimately happens, we have an open spot at 197 (transfer.) If neither guy bumps, Esposito should be fine.

I met Harley1 last night at the IU match and he is gorgeous!

LOL ! He does have a great head of hair. I'm jealous, lol. I am now follically challenged due to late onset Alopecia. . I walked by him last week, but he was in deep discussion with his seatmate so I decided not to disturb him. You two have some good seats, though.

Win a few toss ups, and we upset Purdue tomorrow. We are a slight underdog.

Mr Suriano never told Goody to f himself. Maybe Reece but not Goody. Scott has no say as to who Reece brings in to train. Ashnault trains next to Meredith and Kolo who are both vying at Ashnault’s weight for the Olympics and it does not bother Anthony. I feel badly the Surianos feel that way. I truly like them and hope he returns

Bill he absolutely did say something like that to him. Just because you hang around the practice room, doesn't mean you have all the inside info. He may not say the f word to him but he certainly did say something derogatory..and he definitely told Humphreys off.I can't blame Suriano. That was a dick move what Humphreys did. I don't care if you mask it by saying that was a training partner for him. Humphreys had no business bringing somebody in that's a competitor of his.

While it’s true all kids wrestling d1 college are equal in terms of they r good enough to wrestle d1 however not all talent are equal.. records and rankings r there for a reason. Beating the #1 ranked kid is not the same as beating some random kid..

It was a pleasure finally meeting you as well WNG ..it’s nice to know there is a voice of reason amongst all the criticism that goes on here ..see you tomorrow I’m sure.

Your point was every kid in division 1 wrestling is tough.. which I agree with.. my point was records and rankings matter.. the reason we r hyped bout GA’s win over Illinois is bc the kid was ranked.. any kid can win on any giving night, some have a higher %, this is what makes upsets so exciting

My other point was some of the guys ripping kids for losing to a kid who might not have a great record or not giving credit to a kid for beating a kid without a good record is just wrong ..the effort is what I look at and all our kids are workers so the incessant ripping of JG for his lack of offense or JOJO for not living up to his hype or whoever they feel doesn’t meet their expectations is pointless ..critiquing is one thing ...what some of these guys say is downright cruel sometimes..I have no skin in this game at all other then being a former wrestler and a big fan of the sport but one of these days some parent is gonna find one of these big mouths ripping their kid and it won’t be pretty .

I don't get it. Then why do you post here or even read these boards if you're so offended by the criticism. Were posters supposed to act like the Cornell match was all sunshine and roses even though Rutgers wrestled like sh*t? So every loss is to be met with, O well he tried at least he participated? I just don't get why if this board pisses you off so much, you keep reading. I mean, it pisses you off so much at times you've threatened or alluded to physical violence.

Oh geez ..now I’ve threatened violence ...you are full of crap and one of the guys who incessantly rips these kids so no surprise here that you get off on it ..carry on with your keyboard muscles ..it fulfills your life I guess ...not wasting my breath on guy like you who probably never was an athlete and will never get it anyway.

I read the board because some guys really have some useful info to share and when I can’t make a match I get blow by blow results so it’s keeps me informed ...you get off on saying kids wrestled like shit ..why not tell them yourself

I get what u r saying but it is also disappointing when we lose, on paper, to wrestlers or teams we r supposed to beat... and expectations r good.. it means we r going in the right direction.

Now you've struck a nerve, never question my athletic prowess there Chief. I busted my ass out there on the football field through college. What I got is a ripped apart shoulder and bad ankle that still bother me to this day. Shoulders so bad I can't throw a fvcking baseball 10'.

Had my shoulder strapped in a harness to go out there for the betterment of the team. Try snapping a football and blocking with that. Hooked up to electrodes to stimulate muscle to heal an ankle then have it so heavily bandage to play it was like walking on a pogo stick for a leg. Had my face mask broken by a blitzing linebacker that it broke my nose but kept playing after grabbing a teammates helmet. Try your tough guy act somewhere else.

My toughness ain’t the issue dude ...keep ripping kids the way you do and some parent is gonna challenge you and your bumb shoulder one of these days with some of the crap you spew about their kid ..I could care less how tough you are ...so you do what you do which is crapping on kids and I’ll do what I do which is calling you out for it ..don’t like it ...don’t read it !

Oh geez ..here we go again lol...WNG knows who I am ..I assume Abro does too ..I don’t need a keyboard to tell you what I think of some of you ripping kids the way some of you do ...critiqueing is one thing ..saying a kid doesn’t belong on the mat when that kid earned his way on the mat is just a small example of personal attacks you guys put on JoJo , the stuff said about JG , MVB , Donner and others just rises above criticism sometimes and that’s my point ..enough said !.

I did not say Bob did not talk to Goody. I said he did not say go f yourself. My point was Goody has no say in who Reece brings to the RTC. My point in comparison was that Anthony Ashnault did not go to train elsewhere when his future Olympic trials competitors, Kolo and Bryce Meredith were brought by Reece to train at RU. I think Nick Suriano will beat NATO every day of the week regardless where NATO trains. I truly feel bad Bob and Nick appear to be gone from RU. It would have been great to see him go for a 2nd title next year in an RU singlet. See you all tomorrow against a very talented Purdue team.
