Wrestling RU Wrestling beats Indiana, 29-7

Last edited:
Nick Suriano is not coming back to Rutgers because Suriano's father told Reece Humphreys and Coach Goodale to go F themselves ( everyone knows what happened and saw it).Humphreys allegedly brought Nato in to train ( which Nick and his father thought was a dick move, because they where both training for the Olympics). That's why Suriano switched to the NYC wrestling club ( or whatever it's called).I think it is safe to say that Nick Suriano will never wear a RU Wrestling singlet again.I think Coach Goodale and staff comfortably knew what they where getting when Suriano came in...a packaged father/son deal.

if true, Coach Goodale is in good company. Bob Suriano said the same thing to Coach Sanderson.

Last night was a great example of Division 1 wrestling parity even when a kids record might not reflect his talent ...Gerard Angelo didn’t care that he was wrestling a ranked kid and just showed how dangerous he can be in some of his power positions despite being heavily an underdog ..kudos to GA on that great win ....a kids record in my opinion means almost nothing ..the 157 pounder MVB beat had a terrible record but nearly beat AA last year and if you were there last year you know that was a hell of a scare ..he has to be one of the best kids at that weight with a terrible record so kudos to MVB with a really smart win ....the 184 lb guy also had bad record yet gave Billy J all he could handle so way to go Billy in gritting out that win ..my point is all these kids are equal when they step on a division 1 mat and no win at this level should be knocked because of an opponents record ..my 90 minute drive to RU matches is well worth it when I see gritty matches like I see almost every match at the RAC and one reason you will never see me rip a kid for losing to a supposed lesser talented kid ..and vice versa ...any given night any thing is possible and we see it both ways all the time ..

Harley1 keep posting. you add a lot of value and insight. Some of the critics who attack you personally, I ignore

I did not say Bob did not talk to Goody. I said he did not say go f yourself. My point was Goody has no say in who Reece brings to the RTC. My point in comparison was that Anthony Ashnault did not go to train elsewhere when his future Olympic trials competitors, Kolo and Bryce Meredith were brought by Reece to train at RU. I think Nick Suriano will beat NATO every day of the week regardless where NATO trains. I truly feel bad Bob and Nick appear to be gone from RU. It would have been great to see him go for a 2nd title next year in an RU singlet. See you all tomorrow against a very talented Purdue team.
Bill..ok,no harm done.I think we can agree to disagree that The Ashnault camp is ..let's say..more opened and reasonable to who they train with, than the Suriano camp.I met Bob Suriano once and that was enough for me.To the Surianos,( and I am just postulating here) bringing in someone from Princeton like a Glory and a Seth Gross probably wouldn't carry as much "feelings and intent".The Surianos where probably thinking "why is he bringing in a former teammate to train when there are plenty of other capable guys at this weight to train with".In that respects,I see where the Surianos are coming from. Not a smart move on Humphreys part.We may never see another wrestler like him on The Banks again.Yes Alvarez is showing promise, but needs to prove himself at the big dance. One of the dads of a former RU wrestler said this about Goody 4 years ago "Coach Goodale is a businessman, and each of his wrestlers are a stock to him..all with certain worth and value". Regardless of what I,and others in the RU community think, and you say he has no control over "Humpreys decisions"..thats a crock of bull. The blame game stops at his feet.

Oh geez ..here we go again lol...WNG knows who I am ..I assume Abro does too ..I don’t need a keyboard to tell you what I think of some of you ripping kids the way some of you do ...critiqueing is one thing ..saying a kid doesn’t belong on the mat when that kid earned his way on the mat is just a small example of personal attacks you guys put on JoJo , the stuff said about JG , MVB , Donner and others just rises above criticism sometimes and that’s my point ..enough said !.
Jesus Christmas .calm down already.it's a wrestling board not a St. Judes forum.Nobody is saying anything on here without some of those things being true.Everyone is a keyboard warrior to some extent. That's what anonymous forums are for.Your thin skinned approach started when everyone was ripping on the VanBrills ( in particular MVB),because of their up and down results. They where right! MVB has provided lack luster performances up until the Penn State match. He gets hot for a little while beating marginal to good wrestlers and then gets dominated by a "cracking the top 20" guy.Am I missing something or wrong here? That's not ripping on someone..that's pointing out the apparent.

You keep using MVB as a talking point not me ..I think JoJo has been ripped a lot here since the season began for wanting to wrestle instead of red shirting ..he beat who he needed to ...he earned his spot ..for God’s sake how many times are you gonna beat that dead horse ..JG and his lack of shooting or offense ...he has been here three years already ..he is what he is ..how many more times does he need to get ripped about it ...MVB ...oh my God he shoulda got shot for that defensive pin according to some of you ..should I go on ...hell one of you guys actually said you hope JOJO loses to Pete to prove your point ..who does that ..I defend all the kids not just MVB ..you keep using that talking point if that floats your boat ..sayin a kids doesn’t belong or hoping he should lose is not critiqueing ..I would bet anything none of you wrestled Division 1 ever yet you are all critics ..you keep ripping the kids when they have a bad day ..as if they don’t feel bad enough ...and I’ll keep ripping you for it ..don’t like it ..don’t read it ..I don’t need a keyboard to say what I have to say ..I’ll say it to your face h

This board is becoming unreadable, again. Yes, I am a “chick” (rolling my eyes in the year 2020). Yes, I think any fan who negatively nicknames any wrestler at any time for any reason hits below the belt. Constructive criticism is good. Insight is good. Speculation is well, speculation, and is not necessarily facts and shouldn’t come across nor be taken as facts. Fans will be “fanatic” and have expectations, I get it. Feel free to put your money where your mouth is to help in ANY way you can to make it better. Coaching UP is free.

Have a nice day. See you all at Purdue.

Go RU!

I have broad shoulders I can handle the critics ..I’ve seen a couple of them in person so I know why they use their keyboards to vent ...some guys here these kids will never please ..wrestling is a sport where other then say a number 1 against a nobody you don’t know what’s gonna happen ..GA the other day is a clear example of that ..he gets pinned one match and gets ripped for it like he cost us the match then he basically beats up a ranked kid ....then Billy J didn’t major a supposed nobody and gets ripped for that ..I was there matside ..that kid gave Billy all he could handle and He was glad he won as was I ..but no a couple guys rip him..it’s all good..I’ll take wins like that all day and be happy about it.

Thanks for your comments. I have me Bob Suriano many times and he is an intense person who loves his son and wants the best for him. I am also on the Board of the SKWC and trust me, Goody and us do not control who comes and goes on the NJRTC. Humphries does. Goody and SKWC controls who we hire and use, I.e Ashnault, Downey and Graff. Humphrey brings to our room his Princeton guys a few times a week. By the way, the coaches would love to have that unidentified hammer upper weight that they have no knowledge of. Keep up the good work.

Can we please just ignore the poster rather than having every thread derailed and ruined with the same nonsense?
I should have never engaged him my mistake. He takes every thread he's apart of and makes it about him and his sole misguided mission in life. It's funny in 10 yrs. of being on this board and 6 as a season ticket holder I've never had a problem with a wrestler's parents. But now according to him I should be weary as they're going to come after me. Give me a fvcking break. Suddenly Harley has decided to take it upon himself that he's the voice for all of them. When did they vote him their voice?

I've just since yesterday gotten back on this board,so I've never ripped on Mike Van Brill. What I am doing is posting something about your apparent issues with finger pointing and playing the blame game. You contradict yourself. You come on here, fight with posters defending wrestlers from low impact insults, and in return, stoop to low brow rebuttles( ie keyboard warrior). I will agree with the other posters Joe Grello is in a funk. It could be a little burnout, he could also be feeling a lot of pressure to perform. He's a great kid though, along with VanBrill and JoJo. In fact..all the other kids are great. Everybody knew this was going to be a down here. I think some kids have exceeded expectations, some kids have met expectations, and some kids are underperforming. That's the World of Wrestling Harley

Actually it was pronounced sh*tliner. But thanks for being G-rated about it. Actually it was campolattano that I first knew was transferring. Suriano I found out later on. I do receive the most criticism for the people that aren't in the "know". I was an Rutgers Wrestler, and have very close ties and connections with the RU wrestling community. Because of these ties,I get first-hand info. Wait till you see who transfers in next semester. A highly decorated upper weight guy,who hates his current college coach. The RU Community is going to be jumping up and and wearing depends adult diapers from wetting themselves with pure happiness

QUOTE="plcoolg, post: 4341057, member: 22310"]To your credit, you were the first person to hint at Suriano transferring to RU before anyone else had that info (i.e. the infamous "oceanliner"). I believe you, even though it is an unfortunate ending.
[/QUOTE]
That would only apply to a Cornell upperweight and a Minnesota upperweight.

Bill, I would say intense is putting it nicely. Let's just leave it at that. Okay my bad, I confused the SKWC, with the NJRTC. Regardless there was a million places that NATO could have trained at. Isn't it ironic that he ended up there with a former teammate? By the way I was using the f word as a colloquially. I know for a fact he did have some words with Goody and Humphreys. Anyway that is old news. Moving forward, yes this upperweight guy is a big deal and he's from a Midwest School. Definitely All-American caliber, if not future finalist. Apparently everything looks like cake and cookies on the outside when it's nothing but. Right now it's about 75% to 80% a done deal. As long as a certain family member of his can make the treck out to the campus, and relocate it'll be a done deal. As I was right about camp and suriano( and was ripped to shreds with criticism..but was right all along) I'm right on the money with this transfer. Also there was another Penn State transfer that was going to come in but he got cornered by Slingblade Sanderson and his "upstanding posse" and opted to stay at Penn State. He's a big freaking deal this Midwest kid.

i'm usually an observer on here.....i usually post on the fb forum...their are a few obnoxious idiots on their i won't call out by name...they are the usual know it all's, and sometimes act like kids.then you have the grammar, and spell check police.....i don't mind if you. and i don't agree on a post...it does piss me off when someone goes out of their way to correct my spelling...it may seem trivial to most of you, but to me it's just a means for them to show their superior knowledge of all things forum related,,,,,,,,,,,we all can agree on one thing....we all are very passionate wrestling fanatics, especially our state univ.....on the one side i see the frustration of some posters with the expectations put on some of our kids.....it sure was easy rooting for our two nat. champs....it's hard to critique greatness....it's not so hard when most of our kids are not all time greats coming out of h.s........wrestling is the toughest sport i think in the world.....a seven minute sprint with a boat load of isometrics to boot...if you never wrestled, you can't imagine being able not to breath ,half way through the first period.....it's a hopeless feeling.......take my word for it ,these kids are in the best shape of any athlete on the planet.....a dan gable quote
"once you wrestled, every thing in your life will be easy"....ain't that the truth.
i have no dog in this fight....it seems to me both views are ok....just as long as their is no personal attack on any wrestler, and questioning their character.......this is a sport not for the weak minded , in body, and spirit

Going by your clues of stud upperweight, lock AA, likely finalist with two years left and a redshirt it can really only be Steveson or Mason Parris. Perhaps the hint about the brother is a reference to Bobby Steveson. Perhaps Parris is allowed to play football too. Either way, if one of these guys transfers to Rutgers it would obviously be a massive coup.

Exactly and we know Parris loves Michigan.

So it's Gable, who I could totally see leaving Minnesota after his situation over the last year, or Darmstadt I suppose, especially with a crowded lineup at Cornell next year with Dean coming back and Cardenas ready to go. Still, either one would shock me but I'm all for it.

Too early to worry about "Who" may be coming.
Let's be pleasantly surprised if someone transfers in.

BTW...just looked at Heavy weight rankings...there is 1 sophomore in the top rankings with a new coach who fits the criteria who hasn't been mentioned

Really upset the Suriano news wasn’t kept quiet but figured it was bound to come out. I knew about the incident pretty much the week it happened. If people have been reading my posts, I’ve said multiple times that posters should forget about Suriano, concentrate on the young guns and thank him for his service to RU. I mean, him skipping the ceremony to go “practice” in Italy should have been a sign.

It happened, I don't see the big deal with it coming out. Better we know now then go all off season with speculation running rampant or get disappointed next year. Now fans can move on with certainty. I just don't see the benefits of keeping it a secret that you see.
