Basketball No. 25 Rutgers Basketball rolls past Wagner 75-52

Somerville has nice hands for a big. He’ll be a really good college 5 when he matures a bit.

Another half, another slow start lol (okay, relax, just having some fun with it right now...). Anyway:

FT's 10-18 (Harper 1-5)
14-30 from the field
4-15 from 3

.....chalking it up to "1st game jitters."

I think this team is going to be very fun to watch & very rootable all year long. Yes we've missed free throws, but I see a team sharing the rock, playing Defense and being aggressive. It's not just a defense only team, buta team with defensive mindset & plays aggressive all around.

It'll change a lot once Ace is in though

Serious question, when was the last time we had a freshman who was the best player in the game?

Exciting to see so many RU players who shoot well, with good form, even when they miss. I need to remind myself that this is not close to the level of competition the team will need to beat to get to the tournament, let alone make a deep run in the tournament.

This resembles a low pass completion % rationale when receivers are dropping balls. I get your point though.
When I saw the 53% I gasped as well. Then saw besides Ogbole/Harper the rest of team was 9 for 11 it's really not that bad. As you expect Harper to do better and Ogbole will not play much, he's that bad.

i know we’ve lost some intensity on d this half but lack of interior D is going to kill us. Hopefully having ace will help with some more length and jumping ability

Honestly, one of favorite players so far.
Another thing to like about Hayes is his strengths and weakness is gonna be the same every game. You get what you get with him regardless of opponent by and large. With a little wiggle room whether it’s Wagner or Sparty.

That’s going to be very different this year when it comes to martini dercack and Lathan too. Just can’t take as much from a game like this from those guys. The level of competition and athlete is too steep a drop off from Wagner to our conference opponents.

Like Howard and Akron for football, don’t get too excited from what you see from those guys yet. They are a wait and see.
