Russo Decommitted

Good luck.
Wishing Anthony an injury free college career and hope he earns his degree.
Once Russo started getting more suitors, RU was facing competition they didn't have when AR gave his verbal.

Seemed like the writing was on the wall for a while but some were in denial. If he indeed goes to LSU that would be a shock considering we got Rettig because they were switching to an offense with a dual-threat style QB.

#Flight
I've always been one of the few on this board that didn't think he was very good, but everyone else took Trent Dilfers word as gold and thought he was the messiah, he will be a backup somewhere

Have to wonder about the conversations / exchanges he has had with our OC. The OC seemed fired up, but looks like Russo was not as fired up.

Considering the coaching change and the direction Coach Ash is moving regarding the offensive philosphy Russo's talent was not as good a match. I think this is good for both RU and Russo in the long run. I wish him nothing but the best for the way he has handled himself through the entire process.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading some of the responses of "next man up" or "fight or flight." Our endless supply of recruits will this decommit an afterthought.

I wish him well though, hope we can pull something off here at RU though.

Ash announced that we were going to a spread offense. Russo is a drop back quarterback. Why would he come to a place that is going to run an offense not in his style? The next 2-3 years are going to be throwaway until this staff can recruit players to run the new system. Either way, we don't have a Big Ten calibre line and we don't have any committed in this class. Whoever our QB is next couple of years, he better be able to run like a deer to avoid the rush.

I still don't understand why people keep talking about Haskins.. $$$ and he isn't a dual threat QB.

On a side note - saw this little nugget on the nj.com article -

There has been speculation that Temple could be a destination for Russo, as former Rutgers director of recruiting E.J. Barthel has taken on a volunteer role at the school.

If blazek wasn't squatting like a turd he'd still be committed.
I think the fact that he probably couldn't beat Blazek in a foot race had more to do with it. By the way, he should be used to people squatting in front of him, after all he is a QB.

Oh really? Nick Krimin? Elijah Johnson?

Anthony Russo is a Pro-Style Quarterback ....
LSU - supposedly is trying to work out whether they want to be led by a QB who is really pro-style ... or really dual-threat ....humm..... (LSU fans want fast paced dual-threat ... & they hate what they see as a slow-paced pro-style ... and the big LSU fans throw their weight around)
LSU's head coach Les Miles is unquestionably in a very difficult position - it got dramatically ugly for a bit - then it eased up - but it is far from pretty - and Cam Cameron - the offensive coordinator is finishing year 3 of a 3 year contract - it expires March 31 - a new contract is supposed to be given to Cameron .... but this is not a highly secure situation.

Russo & his family will need to decide what makes the most sense for his future -
Choose wisely - Good Luck - Try not to select a place where you will not have to get acquainted with a brand new Head Coach immediately after your first or second year.
Keep in mind that while things have calmed down a bit - they have not really changed & given the toxic level that things got to just two months ago, it would seem to be guaranteed that Les Miles will NOT be coaching LSU for the long term.

Yeah, really. Did you watch our O-line last year? What do you think the reason Rettig never got a chance to play in all those blowout games? He can't move! Laviano could roll out, which at least gave him a chance to get a throw off. We don't need two OL recruits, we need like six that can play this coming season. How many of those on the recruit list?

Terrible news. We're not going to get another QB as good as Russo in this class. Spread or not, if you have a quality QB, you adjust your philosophy. I hope I am wrong, but losing Russo and trying to get OLs from the Midwest (why would they come to RU?) is not giving me a lot of hope that Ash will turn this thing around anytime soon.
