It sounds like there was no question that Russo was headed to the finals. Dilfer loves this kid.

During the pressure cooker portion of the Elite 11 semifinals, when quarterbacks have two minutes to move the ball 60 yards, Archbishop Wood's Anthony Russo closed with a 50-yard touchdown pass.

"Trent Dilfer came up to me afterward and said, 'You just punched a ticket to Oregon,' " Russo said. "It was exciting."

I will be interesting to see if Russo has to beat off suitors for his services.
And please don't tell me they won't come after him because he's already committed.

They absolutely will. I find myself hoping we can keep him. This kid is money, I'm tellin' ya.

Haskins imo deserves all the credit he gets. That kid is a potential game changer.

Gurantano to me is more hype and creation. If he wasn't in NJ, I am not sure Flood would have spent the time on him that he did. There were ancillary benefits to keeping him in NJ, but we won't miss any actual production. Quite the contrary. I have no doubts when it is all said and done, Russo will have had the better career.

Guarantano, Haskins & Anthony RUsso are all Elite QB prospects.
Here is a detailed analysis of Anthony Russo's recent Elite 11 performance:

Could someone please explain what this "Elite 11" is all about? Is it for QBs only? There was mention of semifinals + punching a ticket to the finals in Oregon. Will there be an all-star game played there or just QBs competing against one another?

Thanks.

EcoJew, it is based on QB's only, and they are picked regionally, where they compete against each other.. Those chosen go to the "Final 11" in Oregon. It's only for QB's and the competition camp is all skill based, i.e., footwork, decision making, arm strength, etc.

Just to add, 18 candidates were chosen after 30 competed in LA in the semis and of those 18 QBs, 11 will be selected as the a Elite 11. Tom Savage was RU's other Elite 11 QB.

Thanks, guys. This really is a big deal then. Hopefully he'll do well, have a great senior season, and sign on RU's dotted line on LOI day.
