***Rutgers announces series with Boston College***

App.com has a story on the newly scheduled series. They run all of their RU football stories with this same picture of Chris Ash taken during the Michigan game.

What is the point of continuing to use this picture in every story?

I'd imagine there's no point..probably the most accessible.

I think it helps completely close any Florida relationships or knowledge of Rutgers that may have remained from the schiano years-
One game at Miami was going to save that?? Man some of you are off the rails. What keeps Ash and company from going to recruit Fla players? You don't need to play in states to get players from those states? Most SEC teams never play up north but their rosters are loaded with kids from all over the country.

Isn't BC a better program than Rutgers, by any measure?
BC had some pretty good teams in the early/mid 2000s. Since then have been pretty mediocre. BC seems to have a small fan base, small stadium, poor recruiting.

Rutgers had 2 bad seasons. Before that they've been an above average team since 2004. We have a larger fanbase, better recruiting footprint, we will inherit more money soon than BC will ever see.

By those measures we are a better program.

Please tell me the downside.
It does help their Jersey recruiting.

How many times have you heard stories about how someone like Coach K at Duke wanting to schedule NYC area games so the Duke players from this area could play in front of their home crowds?

You don't think BC is going to talk to NJ recruits and say, hey's we'll play in New Jersey twice in your time at BC.. and Boston is not that far away.

So what?? As I said earlier it's one game in NJ. Big Ten Schools have a much bigger claim in that regards. BC isn't or never will be a big player in football. They play in a southern league, they are a school out on an island in the ACC. Playing Rutgers will have zero impact in NJ recruiting. The Catholic schools kids that are looking for similar in college will go there if they don't get an ND offer. They weren't coming here in the first place. Nothing about 1 game in NJ will help their cause. Get off the soapbox. This is a good move by Hobbs

Upside only exists for BC if we think we are on the same level as them. A lot of people here are holding both ends of the straw. The downside is non existent if we beat up on BC. I have no doubt from 2006-2014 we would mop the floor with BC. We should still fair well.

Grow up people.

There is no way in hell we would mop the floor against the 2 Matt Ryan teams. They would have been great games. Lets not let go crazy. The teams have roughly been good the same years and awful the same years.

Dominate the region, move out from there.

Offer Sarahcuse a 2-1. We need homecoming games.

The only BC class that could play 2 games in NJ is the class of 2022 and only if they play as a true freshman and then sit out a season and then play as a 5th year senior in 2026.

Really? In down years Miami is better than Rutgers. If Richt gets things ramped up, a blowout loss will help RU in Fl? BC recruits certain NJ kids, mostly Catholic school kids. There has been no impact on their recruiting due to conference affiliation

We get no credit for beating a team like BC and it allows them to come here and recruit.

A Miami game is a promise so S FL recruits to be seen by their friends and families.

Whether Miami is back remains to be seen. If BC surpasses 7 wins any time soon it will be a shock.

Wow. What a dumb thought process! Let's say Rutgers can win a BC game or get destroyed by Miami. What's better for a program?

The press release clearly says our home game is on campus.
Pretty sure the initial press release announcing the 2017 schedule way back when listed the Maryland game at HPSS.

Just sayin'

Can't. Yankees won't allow football games until the baseball season ends.
They let the NYFC play during the baseball season. Some would call that "football'' ;)

Um, no it doesnt.

"Rutgers will visit Boston College's Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Sept. 12, 2026 and host a return visit at High Point Solutions Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027."

Ash and Hobbs won't make the same mistake of the previous administration. Doubt we play at Yankee Stadium again as a home game anytime soon.
Lets hope "soon" is code for "never"

Yup. My bad. That was original deal. Today's deal addsome 2 more games earlier..

"Rutgers will host the Eagles in the opening game of the series on Sept 21, 2019 inside High Point Solutions Stadium. Then, Boston College will play host to the Scarlet Knights on Sept 3, 2022."

Either way, both home games on campus, and both away games on their campus.
Lets hope so.

Not on a Friday night from what I have read.
And as it pertains to Army, you heard right.

In terms of football college level they may as well be Nova Scotia...hockey a different story...

B1G vs ACC........will have great attendance at the games.........rivalry type of game......regional game.......great scheduling strategy by RU.

I like the idea of regional rivalries but it's a mistake to re-establish the BC relationship. We've given BC a lifeline when they're desperate to revive the NY/CT/NJ recruiting area that they've been pretty much frozen out from.

It's 4 games over. what, 9 years? Relax everyone, please.

Can't wait to beat them to get a leg up on the all important New England recruiting pipeline. This series is all upside for BC and all downside for RU.

You beat them silly and could end up pulling that 2* kid from UConn.

BC adds more Rutgers games

As a Jersey born and bred guy that has been to many of our away game venues I envied the amount of attention most of our opponents got in their local media and the community generally. Particularly before the second half of the Schiano era I bemoaned the lack of TV and print notice and public interest we got.

But having lived the last two football seasons in the Boston area these guys have it really bad. The Globe might have one or two stories a week during football season and the only time I saw BC football mentioned on the local TV sports report beyond reporting a score is when they were playing Notre Dame in Fenway Pahk.

We might not be Nebraska when it comes to the love of the locals and their media, (though few are) but the BCs guys can only wish to have the type of coverage we get from Gannet and the Ledger.

And you know this how ?????
And you know this how?
As somebody else already mentioned there are no football games at Yankee Stadium while the season is in progress. Pretty simple. That being said, in my humble opinion, it doesn't strike me as a Yankee Stadium game anyway. It seems like the guys who feel that are the guys who have been extremely vocal voicing their opinions about next year's game, which I understand, so you hear this ave automatically think the worst. Not a four-game series, not with the dates already announced, and not with the inability to move big 10 conference games at once they're scheduled, so there's that.

My gut reaction was negative, but seeing how spread out the games are took most of that away. Games in 2019, 2022, 2026, and 2027? If we lose a recruit to BC because they get to play one game in NJ over their entire career, they weren't all that interested in coming here anyway. If it was an annual series, the impact would be much greater.

So what fool made this move at Ru..? hopefully not Hobbs.

and... it is almost guaranteed in the years we play BC that we will not be set up against them in the Pin Stripe Bowl.

2008/2009 would've been tough, yes. Otherwise I stand by it.

Better yet, Rutgers could work out a deal with BC to schedule both games as neutral site affairs at the airstrip in East Hartford known as Rent-a-Field so that they can really fight it out over all of that football talent in the hotbed known as CT.

I'm pretty sure the move was made because of the scheduling difficulties introduced by the 9 game conference schedule and the strongly worded suggestion that B10 teams no longer schedule FCS schools. As it is now, with BC added, we still need to add 2 more games for that season, as we're at 5 home games and 5 away games:

2019

Aug. 31
Sept. 7 at Iowa*
Sept. 14
Sept. 21 Boston College
Sept. 28
Oct. 5 Maryland*
Oct. 12 at Indiana*
Oct. 19 Minnesota*
Oct. 26 at Michigan*
Nov. 2 at Illinois*
Nov. 9
Nov. 16 Ohio State*
Nov. 23 Michigan State*
Nov. 30 at Penn State*

Or it does not make a big difference to our Fla or BC's NJ recruiting.

I'm sure BC loves being able to get a footprint in NJ: like Syracuse, their the redheaded stepchild of the ACC.
