Rutgers defeats Michigan State 4-2 in baseball.

Rutgers defeated Michigan State 4-2 today. RU was behind 2-0 in the top of the 8th when Thompson hit a home run with one man on to tie the game at 2-2. In the top of the ninth RU scored 2 more runs on a double a couple walks and a single. We got a save in the bottom of the ninth.

He only has two home runs this year, but both have been clutch.

Michigan State won the game. What a day in Rutgers Sports - blech. Baseball loses, men's lacrosse gets shellacked by Ohio State, women's lacrosse gets pummeled by Northwestern, and to top it off softball loses a double header at Purdue. After complaining yesterday about the condition of the pitcher's circle at Purdue, our top pitcher goes down with an ankle injury after trying to plant her foot in a game we were leading 5-0. Morgan Smith had to come in and pitch and then go into the 3rd game as well. I hope the coach files a complaint with the B1G about the field conditions. If we lose Maddy Boyd for any length of time that will really impact what was shaping up to be a very good season for softball.
