A year and a half ago @RUScrew85 & I took a 12 day road trip thru SD/Wyoming/Montana/ND. In Red Lodge Montana we were in a bar called Foster & Logan's Pub & Grill. Hanging all around the bar, from the ceiling and on the walls, they had flags from dozens of colleges across the country, that customers either dropped off or mailed in. Rutgers, of course, was missing. At the time, I gave them an R magnet, which they immediately put on the beer fridge. When I got home (and finally got around to it) I sent them a Rutgers flag, but with Covid, it's taken awhile to be hung up. Yesterday they sent me this photo! If you ever get to Red Lodge stop in to have a beer & a bite & see the flag in person. I like the company we are keeping in this photo.

There is a store on Route 9 North in Howell, maybe carpet or furniture, that had a Wisconsin and Miami of Florida flag in their window for some reason. Finally added Rutgers last Summer. These should be commonplace all over the state with all the Rutgers grads that own stores/restaurants. By the way, also in Howell, there is a Stewart’s owned by Rutgers alumni. They have the R on their menu and sell Rutgers sandwiches.

Thanks for “representing “ also I trust you let the owners know psu flags should only be used for cleaning clogged drains 😅

Montana is huge

How much of the state did you get to see?

Good job getting that bar the flag.
How was their beer?

we did a 12 day trip starting in Sioux Falls SD....drove across the state to Wyoming...drove across and up to Montana, then through Montana to our final destination of Fargo, ND where we got to spend the day with AJ Blazek at NDSU...met players, all the coaches and held their FCS championship trophy. We pretty much did this trip although we changed up the first day and went to Deadwood: https://www.dangerous-business.com/road-trip-montana-wyoming-dakotas/

If there is an opportunity for me to inject Rutgers somewhere I will.

I don't drink beer. You'd have to ask @RUScrew85 . I will say that this bar was our first stop after driving the Beartooth Highway...which is allegedly the most scenic route in America but it also one of the twistiest roads either of us had been on and it has very few guard rails. It was nervewracking! This video gives you an idea of the road but you'd have to add 10' walls of snow for the day we did it. It had only opened for the season the day before ...June 2nd...and closed a week after we drove it due to snow. You climb up to 11,000 feet in Wyoming and drive down the other side into Montana. https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/810-beartooth-highway-usa.html

our view for a good part of the drive:

Thanks. I was pretty excited to see the photo when they sent it to me yesterday.

Red Lodge is a tiny (population 2200) one light town at the base of the Beartooth Mountain. But I got us represented!
Definitely. I love stuff like this. Nothing better than being in the middle of nowhere and seeing something reminiscent of home.

Awesome work. Love how the RU flag dominates that row, front and center.

Every local and regional visitor passing through that bar: " WTF's a Rutger?"

They have a makeshift ski area up on Beartooth Pass in summer. Must be the only summer-only ski area in the country. Talked to the guy who ran it years ago, always wanted to check it out. I'll be stopping at Foster & Logan's when I do.

We stopped on the pass and talked to some locals as we watched a couple of guys start building a ramp so they could jump their snowmobile over the road. According to the locals, when the word gets out that the pass is opening people all rush to be the first to the top of the mountain. As we went up...and then down...we saw people skiing, snow shoeing and snow mobiling. They did tell us that the snow doesn't leave until maybe August and then it's back again in September. We went in 2019...the road opened June 2 and closed September 10th. They had a few temporary closures during June due to snow. Just crazy.

And arrive en masse and have a drink...

“This weekend’s Rutgers bar is ___________ , please make sure you patronize this friendly place for Scarlet Knights to meet.”
Where the hell are Rutgers marketing people on this? I know winning is the main focus but for gods sake they should be marketing Rutgers to NJ folks every opportunity. My hometown dive bar has a picture of the 2006 storming of the field after the win over Louisville. It is prominently displayed in the bar. When I am half in the bag I always look for myself as I was on the field that night. They should send out a poster to every sports bar with the schedule every august.

You should get used to these trips . You will be making a lot of them when you run for President in 4 years and win. Ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to introduce the former gov. of the great state of New Jersey and the newly elected president of the United States of America AND the first woman president.......... President Mrs. Screw .

There are a lot of us on here and out there who have lots of ideas like this AND who have on occasion brought them to the attention of those whose job at Rutgers is to make things like this happen....but 🤷‍♂️

I like the fact that the Rutgers flag is bigger than the Alabama and Auburn flags. We may be heading out to Glacier National Park this summer so may need to take a side trip to Red Rock. Did you pass through Cooke City, Montana when driving the Beartooth? Cool tiny town near the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone.

Red Lodge..not Red Rock.
Unfortunately we didn't stop at Cooke City. We'd love to go back one day and spend a full week in the Tetons & Yellowstone and explore that area a bit more.

Really wish it was still possible to get the 17R66 flag. Luckily I got one while they were available, but I should have bought two! I recently found a 17Q66 flag online - but to be honest, for $130 I wish the quality was better than what it seems to be...

I had 2 custom double sided tailgate flags made by this Etsy shop. .They were $55 each and great quality. You may want to check it out. He's very responsive to questions. You just need to send him a good quality photo of what you want and he will replicate it.

the bottom 2 flags are the ones he custom made for me because RU didn't think to have anything made for the 150th.........

I would be interested to see if they could make either the R or the Q version.

Wonder if there is trademark or copyright issue with them?

And those two look very nice 👍

I haven’t seen Ken from Risingflags.com post much lately. Did he close the company? Can’t get the website to work.
