Still a logic disconnect between attitude / inclination
toward monitoring & enforcement between alcohol & marijuana - especially for athletes
Now in most if not all states:
- Alcohol consumption for anyone under 21 = illegal
- Marijuana use = illegal
Yet most all universities have attitude:
- toward Alcohol - (remember ILLEGAL for students & athletes under 21) - well , OK ...be discrete, don't force us to be aware, don't get caught, don't give us any huge signs - give us plausible deniability! (we will ignore the basic clues) and we most certainly will not be pro-active - doing random testing to try to find out who was doing shots & beers last night!
19 years old & blind drunk ? meh - just don't make trouble and please stand behind a tree when you pee/barf - so you are not seen.
- toward Marijuana use - at most colleges - for students in general - often similar to alcohol ... be discrete, don't force us to be aware, don't get caught, - keep us out of it
- - - But for athletes - we will be pro-active we will randomly test your urine (-and blood if that is our policy) we will seek out the information - and then be forced by our own policies / NCAA policies to formally address what we find.
