Athlon Sports College Football 2016 Team Rankings 1-128

11. Washington
The Huskies are poised for a breakthrough year in Chris Petersen’s third season. Talented sophomores Jake Browning and Myles Gaskin are two of the Pac-12’s top players on offense, while the defense returns eight starters from a unit that allowed only 18.8 points a game last year.

TOP TRUE FRESHMEN BY POSITION

Quarterback
Jake Browning, Washington, +16.5

While Josh Rosen got off to the better start, Browning had a strong finish and posted positive grades in five of his last six games. His accuracy percentage of 74.6 percent ranked second among the nation’s true freshmen.

Runner up: Josh Rosen, UCLA

Running back
First Team: Myles Gaskin, Washington, +24.4

Similar to the quarterback competition, Gaskin battled Penn State’s Saquon Barkley all season before finishing with a flurry. He ranked second among the true freshmen in missed tackles forced (51) and third in elusive rating (95.9), all while averaging 3.65 yards after contact per rush.

Second Team: Saquon Barkley, Penn State, +12.1

Would you mind adding a list of the best bars in town as well? Looking forward to you actually chatting, nice pictures!
Just hit 'Pioneer Square'. There's like a dozen bars there all next to each other. It's right in downtown Seattle. Lots of great craft beers to be had there if you're a beer drinker.

btw I'll post some 'boat gating' pics in a bit. A giant tailgate with our boats.

Other than the "meet your doom" part I have to applaud you on the work you have done in presenting your argument. Very well organized and hitting all the key points. Very colorful as well. It looks like a lovely stadium and area surrounding.
As for the actual game, since we have all new coaches and are changing offensive and defensive schemes, we will see what our team is like at the same time as you do.
Your complementary Rutgers teddy bear and Block R magnets are on the way.

THE MOST OVERRATED TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY.

Washington State lost their starting QB for your game. If he is there, they have a good shot shot of beating you. If that was the case, you are 5-7 and you never see the bowl game in which everyone fell in love with you watching you beat a Conference USA team. But somehow you are a top 25 team coming off the mighty 7-6 season.

2 years ago RU was about a 12 point underdog to Wazzu when they traveled to Seattle and pulled off the upset. About 5 years ago did the same to Arkansas at Arkansas. Morale of the story- you never know.
Hoping the U W team is as over confident as their fans.

I love seattle. Good luck with your season, hopefully your prognostication for the RU game is wrong ;)

BTW it's been a couple of years since I've been out there, have they finished the new bridge?

RU will certainly be the underdog. The OP is getting me psyched to splurge and head to Seattle for the game. I've never been there. Just a side note that RU has won every time I have attended an away game when we were the underdog. I went to Arkansas, to Michigan State a number of years ago, to Florida (ok we tied them even though Florida was preseason #1).

Nice pics and writeup. Since our game is at 11:00, do you have any sunrise at Husky Stadium pictures? BTW, are Husky fans by and large morning people?

Dawg,
We will be at your Stadium on Opening morning.
I read on the Washington Husky Board that thousands of seats will be empty due to the 11:00am start and being on Labor Day weekend. Don't think that you will be breaking any Decibel records that day.

Think you will finish like all the other highly ranked PAC preseason teams last year ( UCLA, Arizona, ASU, Oregon) and finish the season nowhere near the Top 25.

Hey Rutgers has a new coach and no proven QB so we are underdogs in most games. Wash seems to be good and are home. Keep in mind Rutgers plays better teams than Wash and some polls dont even have wash ranked. I think Rutgers holds their own in a loss.

Every season starts off with a lot of hope and not a small amount of chest beating. Since we will be seeing just about everything new with all the changes, nobody has a real clue as to what will happen. For all we know, our newest commit may well be starting the game at QB.
Pictures are certainly beautiful though.

Typical Husky bluster. You would think they were coming off their decades ago National Championship season. After moving to Washington in 1994, I immediately rooted for the Cougs.

Washington isn't a great team. However, at this point I'm no where near penciling in a win for our boys. Lots of questions regarding the QB and LB/DB's.

Nice pictures PD, I didn't know your stadium was that nice. Sure our team has some growing pains to go through with a new coach and new system and it is the first game. That doesn't mean Rutgers will be an easy win for you. I fully expect Rutgers to win this game.

Glad this game is the season opener. We stand a real chance of knocking off U-Dub early. The Huskies will be a real good team by season's end.
Do you think Rutgers will get better or worse as the season progresses?

We have a new coach with a new system that hasn't been recruited to yet. We are flying 3,000 miles to play you. Washington should win this game. If you don't, it's a major red flag on your coach.

Should have won that Florida game. Fumbled it away needlessly.I was there .Great game.
