Rutgers: 'Prepare to meet your doom!'

Looking forward to playing the other Washington!

Wow that looks like a nice stadium to be at on a warm sunny September afternoon!
Seattle is on the way to visiting family in Montana. That would be a heck of a trip.

I spent a week (in summer) on your beautiful campus many years back and we would go for a run around the stadium area each morning. Your photos make me wish I could go to the game out there this September and I'll be envious of the RU fans who can make the trip.

I love seattle. Good luck with your season, hopefully your prognostication for the RU game is wrong ;)

BTW it's been a couple of years since I've been out there, have they finished the new bridge?
I haven't been to Seattle since 2010 but they had the new Narrows Bridge finished then (Tacoma). I live in Alaska and every time I think I'm going to make it down there for a game, something always seems to come up. I'm really hoping to make it down there though for this game. First game of the season and the weather there should still be nice that time of the year.

My question to @Purple_Dawg is do students get rowdy on boats during game and not go into the stadium?
Not rowdy ... but drunk and a lot of people watch the game from TV's in their boats. The crowd there has changed a lot since my day. It used to be a loud rowdy blue collar crowd who'd sneak booze into the stadium and have at it but now it's full of Starbucks drinking California transplants who seem to spend more time texting on their phone more than they do yelling.

btw the 'Wave' was invented in that stadium in the early 70's.

THE MOST OVERRATED TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY.

Washington State lost their starting QB for your game. If he is there, they have a good shot shot of beating you. If that was the case, you are 5-7 and you never see the bowl game in which everyone fell in love with you watching you beat a Conference USA team. But somehow you are a top 25 team coming off the mighty 7-6 season.
Washington beat Washington State by a score of 45 - 10. Even with their starting QB the Cougs wouldn't have won that day imo. Washington's defense is set more on stopping the pass then it is the run seeing how the PAC is a pass happy conference for the most part.

As far as being overrated ...won't know until this season gets started. UW started the youngest team in the PAC last season and still ended up with the #1 defense in that conference. Vegas has Washington with 9 wins this season, mostly due to a soft OOC schedule.

Nice pics and writeup. Since our game is at 11:00, do you have any sunrise at Husky Stadium pictures? BTW, are Husky fans by and large morning people?
11:00am is too damn early imo. 1;00pm kickoffs are way better .. because it takes awhile to launch your boat, not to mention the drive to get the boat launches and then depending on where you launch from it can take up to an hour to get to the stadium after you launch your boat. Then of course you want to do your boat gating ... beer, brats, and kraut w/onions is the norm.

Purple Dawg- can you recommend a company to rent a yacht for the weekend? How far are the docks from nightlife?

Thanks.

There's bars all around the lakes... bars, restaurants and hotels. A lot of those bars serve you right on your boat ... most of them have dockside service. Husky Stadium sits on Lake Washington which is miles and miles long ... Bill Gates (Microsoft) lives not too far from the stadium, but the campus itself sits in the middle of two lakes .. Lake Washington and Lake Union which are connected. From Lake Union you can take the locks to Puget Sound (Pacific Ocean). I've never rented a boat myself .. we usually take my dad's when I'm down there but I can find out on the Washington board which yacht company has the best rates. There's also some great salmon fishing to be had in Lake Washington ... sockeye salmon.

RU will certainly be the underdog. The OP is getting me psyched to splurge and head to Seattle for the game. I've never been there. Just a side note that RU has won every time I have attended an away game when we were the underdog. I went to Arkansas, to Michigan State a number of years ago, to Florida (ok we tied them even though Florida was preseason #1).
If Washington fans have a clue they wont take Rutgers lightly after watching them beat WSU in Seattle a few years back. The media has been hyping Washington a lot this offseason and it's seemed to have brainwashed some of our fans. I'm sure that won't be the case with the players though. Coach Petersen is hating this hype and if there's anyone who can bring the players down to reality for this game it's him. Rutgers has a pretty good record for away OOC games.

I wouldn't go that far. I watched a few of their games, and while they were hot and cold, they had a lot more upside than we had last year. They shut DOWN a solid USC offense and dismantled a very good WSU team - it's not like they squeaked that win out.

Not sure how that will translate this year, and they're probably overhyped, but I saw enough to know where that hype is coming from. It's going to be a very tough game, on the other coast with a new coach and new offense.

Other than the Stanford game ... the Huskies never lost a game by more than a TD not to mention the Dawgs were without their starting QB for that Stanford game. A lot of the hype comes from all the young starters returning along with the fact that a lot of the PAC schools are starting new QB's this season. Way too much media hype though this year imo.

Your officially a Scarlet Nation member.

Whenever the opposing team's RutgersAl comes over here it never seems to end well for them.

And I'm guessing there won't be any decibal records set with an 11am kickoff... thats just brutal for UW.

The PAC teams seem to always get screwed because most of the TV sets are back east and there's a four hour time difference. I mean who the hell wants to make a 11:00am kickoff?

Yeah, I haven't looked closely at your roster, but figured you must be returning a lot of talent.

Thanks to the fact that the PAC12 has its own time slot to end out Saturdays, I watch a good amount of PAC12 football. Root for teams like Washington, WSU and Utah over the traditional CA powers and Oregon. That USC game was one of the better games of last season - think it was a Friday and didn't expect much of a game, but Washington really brought it.

That said, I will be rooting like crazy for a terrible start to your 2016 campaign :sunglasses:

It's a beautiful stadium in a great spot in an awesome city with great people and a great University. Love UW. I'm going to feel bad when we ruin your season.

11. Washington
The Huskies are poised for a breakthrough year in Chris Petersen’s third season. Talented sophomores Jake Browning and Myles Gaskin are two of the Pac-12’s top players on offense, while the defense returns eight starters from a unit that allowed only 18.8 points a game last year.

TOP TRUE FRESHMEN BY POSITION

Quarterback
Jake Browning, Washington, +16.5

While Josh Rosen got off to the better start, Browning had a strong finish and posted positive grades in five of his last six games. His accuracy percentage of 74.6 percent ranked second among the nation’s true freshmen.

Runner up: Josh Rosen, UCLA

Running back
First Team: Myles Gaskin, Washington, +24.4

Similar to the quarterback competition, Gaskin battled Penn State’s Saquon Barkley all season before finishing with a flurry. He ranked second among the true freshmen in missed tackles forced (51) and third in elusive rating (95.9), all while averaging 3.65 yards after contact per rush.

Second Team: Saquon Barkley, Penn State, +12.1

Bars shmars. Where's the best place for some of that legal ganja out there ?
No idea ... I live in Alaska which is about a 3 1/2 hour flight from Seattle. Weed is legal here also but I don't smoke it myself.

If Washington scores 40 or more points I would be really disappointed. I guess us Rutgers fans better start mentally preparing for a bad opener. I don't want to hear no "Na na na na we lost Cush blah blah".

Washington's offense sucked last year. Granted they started a true freshman QB and a young OL, but the play calling was abysmal. I put that on the OC who sucks. The offense got better as the season progressed but it still has a ways to go.

For those of you making the trip to Seattle for the game I suggest you take a quick ferry ride to the islands. There's always the chance of spotting killer whale (orca). I you don't have time for that at least try to make it down to the waterfront.

Hmmmm. We were 4-8. Changed staffs. Changed offense and defensive schemes. Have to fly a billion miles to play 1st game. Pretty bold prediction sir.

That said. I do think they are vastly overrated at this point.

Pretty difficult to say what happens in the first game of the year. Both offenses will be new/rusty and the defense usually has the advantage on those opening season games. If it comes down to defense I'd have to lean towards Washington.
