Do some polls really believe that Ashnault will lose to 18 other people if he wrestled everybody (ranking him 19th best)?

That's hard to believe, even if he doesn't really have the track record due to last year's redshirt.

WNG, with the schedule we have, everyone on the team will get the chance to move up the rankings.
 
no, but most rankings aren't based on expected future performance, they're based off previous achievements. but like obrats said, everyone will have the opportunity move up in the rankings.

Exactly, and if you watched the pre-season flo piece on Ashnault, they specifically mentioned his as a dark horse AA candidate even though he was not higher in the rankings due to his incomplete red-shirt season and lack of head-to-head in season contests against the current ranked wrestlers.

The bottom line is the results on the mat will be the barometer, and with our schedule Ashnault will have plenty of opportunities to race up the charts.
