It will take a lot to get into top 25 with lack of 4 stars, once all classes have at least 20 players it becomes quality over quantity

I said this in one of the previous recruiting threads but with a decent close you could end up with about 210 points on the 247 composite. Last year 210 points would have yielded a class rank of 30. I think that +/-2 is a realistic ceiling. Without anymore 4 stars you probably end up 35-40.
How many commits is PSU likely to take. A while back 17-18 seemed to be the #. Still close?
In 2015, Arkansas was #25 with 0-7-15-1 and 1805 points. In 2016 it was Miss St with 1-5-15-2 and 1839 points. Right now RU is 0-3-14-3 with something over 1300 points. It does appear you need 4-5 4* at the minimum to be in the Top 30.

Rutgers will probably finish somewhere near Penn State...30-35.
Don't see PSU's class finishing that low.
Using the 247 Class Calculator, if you add Mark Webb, Charles Reeves, Dylan Wade-Perry, Cam Spence, Zane Zandier and Lamont Wade - a reasonable finish - to PSU's class, you get approximately 228 points. That would have been good for the 23rd best class in the nation in the last cycle. If you end up with one of "plus" linebackers like Proctor or Anthony, and add a 22nd commit, the class could sneak into the top 20.
We'll see. We aren't getting Webb or Spence and most likely not Wade-Perry. Haven't even offered Zandier and I've never heard one mention of Reeves. Out of all the kids you posted, Wade is the most likely.
As an FYI, I don't care about 247 because I don't subscribe there.
Zandier is a backup option, of course.
The fact that you don't subscribe to 247 also explains your general sentiment regarding the other guys. And that's not meant to be snarky; 247 is just far and away the best site for PSU recruiting news and updates.
You shouldn't rule out Spence or Webb at this point, and if Wade-Perry can't get to Stanford, PSU is in great position as of now. Doesn't mean any or all of those guys end up at PSU in the end, but like I said in my previous post, it's a reasonable finish for us as things stand on August 22.
Hopefully RU will continue to bring in the recruits to make up a highly rated class and this thread will stay talking about the Rutgers recruiting class and not hijacked into talking about another school and having their fans making this thread about where that school will end up rated.
But since PSU's recruiting was brought up in this thread, can't say the Nit posters talking about their school should be a surprise and unwarrented.
I just don't like to see threads about Rutgers turn into a 50/50 RU/PSU conversation.
It won't because Rivals scores a class only the top 20 recruits. The class already is up to 20. The only points that Rutgers will add from here on out is the difference between the new recruit and the 20th ranked recruit. Since Rutgers lowest rated recruit is worth 45 points adding a 4 start like Bo Melton would only add 60 points. Since Penn State only has 15 recruits adding the same recruit would give them the full 105 points. If they added a 3 star like Jon Levitt they would only get 15 more points. If Penn State added the same kid they would get 60 points. Right now there are about 5 schools that would pass Rutgers with just getting one additional 3 star recruit. Currently there are 24 schools ranked behind Rutgers, who if they fill out their class with 20 recruits at the same average rating they have now would finish ranked higher then Rutgers. Meaning Rutgers class could potentially finish as low as 44th. I would guess Rutgers' class will finish around 35th.Considering this will be a large class it may only take 5 or 6 4* recruits to squeeze into the top 25. I wouldn't put it past the staff to land 2 more 4* guys and maybe Vretman gets a bump. Anything in the top 35 and I will be very happy.
