It is hard to question guarding the inbound pass when the ball was thrown directly into two Rutgers players who couldn’t grab/hit/punch/tap the ball back down the court... Pikiell got exactly what he wanted until his players whiffed
The official was the midget of the group who called several puzzling calls including waiving off Myles put back when on the replay it should the ball left the cylinder and was a good shot. We lost 2 points right there. Of course if we can learn how to be even slightly above average on the FT line we would have won this game even with the miracle three by Wieskemp.Yea this is pretty much as brutal as it gets. Only thing worse would be if he made the full shot. But even then we'd have like 3 secs to get a shot off at least.[laughing]
But what do I know. I'm still trying to figure out how you can grab someone unintentionally. In all my life I've never grabbed anyone unintentionally even when I was falling down. I knew if I grabbed them it would lesson my fall.
They're young. They'll be fine.Im mostly worried about the teams psyche after this..
I am more worried about our psyche's!Im mostly worried about the teams psyche after this..
No, we have that down at 61%. How about we improve to 70%. That's all I'm asking for. Montez should shoot 10,000 FT's after the season is over. I guarantee you his percentage will go way up.I would be fine with being below average at the FT line.
I am not.Im mostly worried about the teams psyche after this..

You are correct. The ball was tossed the entire length of the court and it ends up in the corner in an Iowa players hands. Forget the shot, the 2 Rutgers guys should have come down with the ball or knocked it out of bounds.
You cannot allow that pass to be completed.
I was wondering the same thing.les
It still hurts like hell. That was a win for us. Geo's shot should have been the game winner. Iowa is lucky as hell to leave the RAC with a win and they know it, especially that whiny bitch McCaffery. You know they call that in Iowa if roles were reversed. Damn. Really thought RU was going to get it. Still some good news as PSU and Indy lost. If Nebraska loses to NW then RU still in 10th!!!!!
Well said. Athletes understand that gut wrenching losses are part of the deal. They will move on. I do think fans sometimes have a harder time of it.I am more worried about our psyche's!

I've lost faith that we will. That finish will be called surreal. Didn't get the luck today. We will someday.
Not me. Team should absolutely hold their heads high and realize they can play with anyone. Refs cost them the game. They will learn from this.Im mostly worried about the teams psyche after this..
Sadly it was. And it was a weird bank, because Wieskemp, who shot the damn ball, it was so high up on the backboard that an inch to the left it may have hit the side of the board and doinked off.I heard on the radio the winning 3 pointer was a bank shot, please say that's not true because that makes it worse. From our angle it's hard to tell if a shot has been banked in.
Yup would have had to call the bank shot on the playground. Awful luckI heard on the radio the winning 3 pointer was a bank shot, please say that's not true because that makes it worse. From our angle it's hard to tell if a shot has been banked in.
Tez our best defender.
Banked in from the top left corner of the glass.I heard on the radio the winning 3 pointer was a bank shot, please say that's not true because that makes it worse. From our angle it's hard to tell if a shot has been banked in.
It was banked in, which is hard to do on a shot from the corner. It was wide left and hit high on the backboard. Had it been wide right by an equivalent distance, it's an airball.I heard on the radio the winning 3 pointer was a bank shot, please say that's not true because that makes it worse. From our angle it's hard to tell if a shot has been banked in.

I wish it were a standard bank shot.. it was shot from behind the basket from the corner of the court.. it barely scraped the top corner of the backboard.. and swished. Its almost like a FG that hits the upright and then the crossbar but bounces through.I heard on the radio the winning 3 pointer was a bank shot, please say that's not true because that makes it worse. According to some astrophysicists, if you are not there to observe it, it didn't happen.Eff me. I DVR the game and added 15 min. It stopped right after Geo made the three (3 sec left). Was hoping to come here and confirmed the win and celebrate. That was the best game we played all year. Just ran into a better team. Keep developing and the wins will come.
Add to that that Geo hit what would have gone down as one of the great buzzer beater 3s in RU history. Now it will hardly be remembered and he won’t get credit for the total clutch, ice in the veins shotFirst it was a Hail Mary inbounds pass that RU defended well.
Then it had the misfortune to land perfectly outside the 3-point line and into the hands of an Iowa player.
Luck would have it the Iowa player it deflected too just happens of course to be a 45% 3 point shooter.
And finally for the kick in the balls he shot a brick that was saved by the backboard.
It really doesn't get any more heartbreaking than that.
That would work for meAccording to some astrophysicists, if you are not there to observe it, it didn't happen.
Well, technically Geo shoot wasn't a buzzer beater, but it would have been one of most clutch 3s in RU history so I hear ya man.Add to that that Geo hit what would have gone down as one of the great buzzer beater 3s in RU history.
