Bad inbound pass, lucky bounce, bad percentage shot = ' W ' for them !Luckiest play I've ever seen.
Well the bounce wasn't entirely luck. Their guy did a good job to get a hand on it and deflect it toward the basket, rather than allow RU to pick it off. That was by design. But from that point on, I agree it was all luck.Bad inbound pass, lucky bounce, bad percentage shot = ' W ' for them !
Like I said before, we have bad hands on jump balls.1939:
You are correct. The ball was tossed the entire length of the court and it ends up in the corner in an Iowa players hands. Forget the shot, the 2 Rutgers guys should have come down with the ball or knocked it out of bounds.
You cannot allow that pass to be completed.

The pass was NOT completed. The Iowa man played defensive back and got a hand on it to prevent the interception. That was by design. His job was either to catch it or deflect it forward.1939:

And from the RU perspective, knocking the ball out of bounds is the second worst thing you can do! (Fouling, of course, is the worst.) If you knock it out of bounds, you allow them a very manageable catch and shoot for the win.
Must I explain it again? They did not "allow" the ball to go into the corner. The Iowa player made a good play to get a hand on the pass which he could not catch. The ball bounced into the corner. Surely you are not suggesting our defenders are responsible for the direction of the bounce of a deflected ball?No no no.....the worst thing you could do is ALLOW THE BALL TO GO INTO THE CORNER WHERE AN OPPOSING PLAYER CAN CATCH IT WITH 2 SECONDS LEFT AND BANK A 3 FOR THE WIN. That is the worst thing you can do. Knocking it out of bounds gives the opposing team 1 or 2 seconds to run a play but you at least have a chance to setup. Not ideal but with out a doubt not the worst thing you can do
The ball is inbounded where the ball is tipped outHere is a question for the Rules Experts. If Iowa tosses the ball the full length of the court and Rutgers knocks it out of bounds, where does Iowa inbound the ball from. Remember there was no change of possession.

As an Iowa fan, I agree Joe's last shot was lucky; however, Ron Harper uncharacteristically hitting so many three's was somewhat lucky for Rutgers. Iowa also missed a lot of bunnies (particularly in first half), along with several free throws too. Should be an interesting re-match in Iowa City. If both teams play to their potential, I think Iowa is about an 8 to 10 point winner. No damn luck + refs + 55.6% FT = brutal loss

Step back and think about it...Iowa recruits and plays the game the right way (i.e., no cheating). Many, many, more programs to hate on than Iowa.I think I hate Iowa hoops more than any other team now.
Iowa will win re-match, no doubt in my mind.Your team hit a miracle shot
Harper will hit many 3s going forward.
Take your extremely fortunate win and be thankful

Dude, your team is 12 - 13, so calm down. Not here to "rub it in" just wanted to get the Rutgers angle on the game. Just surprised at level of hate here.Just a thought, good fans don't go posting on other boards to rub it in

Another arrogant Iowan. I hope Harper lights you jackasses up on your home court.
Now get the hell out of here with your crap.

RU looks forward to visiting corn country after you lose two of your next three games. Greater likelihood of Harper hitting a bunch of threes again than one of your players hitting a shot off the side of the backboard from a cross court baseball pass that gets tipped to the corner with three seconds left in the game to win.As an Iowa fan, I agree Joe's last shot was lucky; however, Ron Harper uncharacteristically hitting so many three's was somewhat lucky for Rutgers. I am not sure why, it is the day after an incredibly disappointing loss against a very good team that we could have and should have beaten at home. I was watching #10 warm up during the half and he could not hit a shot, he would have been the person I wanted to take the shot last night and he hit it, lucky for you unlucky for us.Dude, your team is 12 - 13, so calm down. Congratulations on the win and good luck the rest of the way ( unless you play Rutgers again)
That may be true and I will be the first to admit that i know very little about Iowa’s team but as I watched him miss three after three during the halftime warm up it looked to my Untrained eye that he was just not feeling it. I guess I was wrong#10 shoots 45% from 3 on relatively high volume (four attempts per game). Aside from Bohannon, that is the LAST guy on Iowa’s team you should have wanted to take the last shot.
