Rutgers vs Nebraska Wrestling Results and Update Thread

Vis tries but he is just not there. Please don't question his heart. He has that in spades

that was directed to Campy--no one else.

I can only assume that RU wrestlers practice about 67% as long or as hard compared to other B1G programs. Amazing to again see so many RU guys happily on the bottom for the last period against unranked opponents. Maybe next year the kids will be a little more serious about their conditioning.

I assume you are in all of the Big Ten wrestling rooms to come up with %? Talent differential has the biggest impact!

Wouldn't you say Ash and Del Vecchio are/were more talented to the guys they lost to today after having 1st & 2 nd period leads?

They should have won those matches. Hoping they learn from today and win the rematch.

Look, everyone knew this season was a huge step up. Sure there was going to be a talent gap, so how could RU offset that? I thought it would be to work harder.

Ignore the overmatches, look at RU kids going against unranked opponents ... do you honestly believe that the RU kids are as well-conditioned as the other guys?

RU is not even competitive at 184 and 197 it's a joke. They need to do a much better job at recruiting 165 and above.

HWT[/B]: No. 14/18/NR/11 Billy Smith vs. No. 17/NR/19/NR Collin Jensen (11-7)

Let's see if Smith can score more than 1 or 2 points. Another kid he Should beat, but ....

In all fairness, Pafumi probably weighs 170 pounds with a Fat Cat in his back pocket. He is taking his lumps for the team score in these matches.

And if Campy is gonna mail it in, we all know we didn't have any depth at that weight.

The Camp Situation is hugely disappointing after getting the 2nd chance. I called it a week ago in another thread. As soon as he saw he was not competing you just knew it was a matter of time. Don't expect we see him again.

Thought Perrotti competed well. He could have sat today but decided to wrestle the best which should help him in March.

We are seriously overmatched in our Upper Weights from 165-197. Bakuckas is tough but not at the level of top 10 and Pagumi competed well. Like him better than Hrymak in that spot.

I think Giraldo has a good future at 33/41 but we need serious upgrades at 25 and 65-97 except Bakuckas and Smith only has 1 more year.

I'm a Pafumi fan due to the SPP connection. But he is not a 184 pounder. he was 171 in HS and was a few pounds light then. he doesn't have the frame to wrestle in the B10 at 84...I applaud him for battling and keeping these matches to 3 point decisions, but he is in over his head at that weight.

LOL !!! But more than one way to 'skin a cat' !

Hey hey !! Smith with a big finish !!! Great effort Billy ! RU gets nipped by Nebraska 26-9

26-9. If 133 and 141 did their job it is respectable 20-15. Visicaro wins too and we win 18-17.
mental toughness just not there yet.

With no big guys coming in im afraid after perotti the lineup again next year will suffer. Bak and Smith will hold there own. 125-165- 184-197 will be painfull to watch and no help in sight

our recruiting sucks. our coaching staff needs to get better in our upper weights.

Every school in the Big Ten that takes wrestling legitimately serious is successful. You will be able to recruit wrestlers in the future you had no success with in the past. Hopefully you steal from the rest of the Big Ten and not Minnesota though.

Although I might have said it differently (LOL), you are 100% correct.

most guys did not look their best, that's for sure.

the flights to the midwest do not seem to go well. all part of the B1G acclimation process. down matches are going to happen. i'd like to see how the team responds to Navy and tOSU before i make any sweeping judgements.
