It's summer. Hope springs eternal. Either way, I'll be there. Can't wait to check out your stadium and Seattle.

We should've beat Washington last year. Ash should be able to get the job done this year.

Leach is the HC for the Washington State University Cougars. Rutgers plays the University of Washington Huskies this year.

Chris Petersen is the coach for the Huskies.

Serious question, and not trying to bait you. What if option #1 occurs and Washington loses by more than 14 points. How will UW fans react?

I see Washington up 10 - 7 at the half and then pulling away in the 2nd half with the ground game wearing out Rutgers for a 24 - 14 win. Rutgers will beat the spread.

It will be a meltdown of epic proportions and the fans will be calling for Smith's head...the Washington OC who's not popular with the fans. He's the only Washington asst. coach who didn't get a contract extension at the end of last season.

I'll be there in person. I hope for, but don't expect a very competitive game.

UW 34 - RU 10.

You give us too much credit. I don't expect Rutgers to keep it within 3 touchdowns. Bad team, meh QB, new coach, west coast game and Huskies look like they have some potential.

Washington, at home, in year 3 of a coach and his system, should beat a first year coach playing his first game away. If Washington doesn't handle us, I might question where we are headed if I am Washington, and conversely will be very happy with Ash based off this win alone.

Different time zone, first game, across the country, against a ranked team. It's house money.

I think you're wrong and this is why I'm betting against the spread for this game: this will be the first game of the season for both teams which means the defenses will have the edge. Washington was slow out of the gate last season and although they won't be as bad in the early season as they were last year I think Rutgers has one advantage in the scouting report dept. seeing how Rutgers has an entirely new coaching staff ... new offense, new defense. That means no game film for Washington to study.

I'll be going to the game and hope to see a good one.

I just don't see RU's offense doing much in game 1 and the RU lb's are inexperienced.

I think we'll need to be +3 in turnovers to have a shot.

I'm thinking something along that line ^^. If this game was the 3rd game in the season then I'd agree with the spread, but with it being the opening game for both teams I see both offenses being tight ... especially with the passing game.

I think I'll come back to this thread at the end of August when we know who our starting QB will be, and how the team is looking and update on injuries. Plus how our new kicker and punter are doing.

Do you guys have a free board where you guys post?
Yep but I don't post on there. I post in a Washington Huskies Facebook group and a PAC-12 FB group. The PAC-12 FB group is on the verge of being X rated though ...it's a zoo.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/237943606264350/ <--- Husky Nation ... it's a Facebook group and there's ex UW football players in there along with a few scouts, trainers, etc...

https://washington.n.rivals.com/ <--- that's the UW rivals board and then there's one on Scout, 247, etc....

Coming off an incredible 7-6 campaign and an unbelievable win against a Conference USA team in their bowl, the Washington Huskies are the darlings of the Pacific Northwest. They get to read every day the press clippings on how great they are, how they will win their division and play for the Rose Bowl. And now I just saw College Sports Radio ranked them #14 coming into the season, another bunch of experts in awe of those Huskies, they can pump their chests and just roll through the season now.

They start off with their little tuneup game in which they can read every day this summer how they are a 21 point favorite and can rest their starters by the middle of the third quarter, then bounce through the heart of their schedule.

But I just looked at that schedule, and it turns out that they don't play one of those FCS sisters of the poor teams that day. In fact they aren't even playing a MAC or Sun Belt level team. No no no when they look across the field on game day the patches on the opposing uniforms say Big Ten on them.

Oh I know they got all summer to prepare for lowly Rutgers. Yeah, and tell me have you seen the game film of a Chris Ash run offense. What about defense in which Chis Ash was the head coach. Yeah you may think you have some idea but I bet Ash will throw out stuff you have never seen.

Oh but Rutgers isn't really a Big Ten team. They are practically still Group of Five level right? Yeah I heard that one before, a couple of years ago when lowly Rutgers had to travel all the way across the country to the great state of Washington and play Wazzu. How did that turn out.

So read those press clippings. Watch all the college shows as they admire your greatness. We'll be waiting.

These Washington total points scored are more likely to points scored midway through the second quarter. Smh

The start time doesn't really favor anyone. Going to the west coast is never easy, nor is playing on the road against a pretty good team such as Washington.

I think Rutgers starts out pretty well but ultimately the opponent and adjusting to coaching changes play a factor. 34-10 Washington with the game being closer than the score indicates (think UW scoring 14 in the last 10 minutes).

Rutgers definitely has the chance to be much better this year but if they are I highly doubt it's going to be shown that much week 1 @ Washington. It'd be hard to show it that much at home vs. anyone even just given the changes. Give em a couple weeks and I'm sure they'll be playing good ball.

Loved our series with Washington State. Both games were exciting and came down to the last drives with heartbreak for the losing teams. Couldn't ask for anything more. Too early to predict a winner here. Just hoping that our series with Washington is as fun and exciting as our series with Washington State. I'm thinking the games will be blast.
