Rutgers Women's Golf Set for Competition at Fresno State Classic

Rutgers started off ok but it went downhill quickly. The team shot +17 for the 1st Round putting then T11 in the 15 team field. Rikki Nordvik led the team with a +3, 75. Maeve Rossi shot 76, Nicole Ewing and Lucrezia Rossettin 77's and Leigha Devine 79. The 2nd Round 2 is under way. This is not a very strong field but.......
Led by Maeve Rossi's -1, 71 Rutgers played much better in the afternoon Round shooting a team +5 for a 2 Round total of of +22. This enabled them to move up 5 spots to 6th. Rossi is T15, the best position on the team. Following her with +2, 74's were Leigha Devine, Lucrezia Rossettin, and Nicole Ewing. Rikki Nordvik shot 80.
While it will be tough after the 1st Round for RU to improve on 6th, they will need another good performance to stay ahead of the 3 teams within 3 strokes behind.

B1G rival Iowa is 11th at +29

In case anyone is wondering what Rutgers Golf faces in the B1G, there was a women's tourney this past week at Arizona State that included 8 of the top 20 teams in the country. Northwestern won the championship by 14 strokes.

So Rutgers dropped 2 spots finishing 8th and out of 15 in one of the weaker fields they face. Rutgers shot a Team +16 which was actually the 4th best out 15 but 2 teams that did better passed them. Their 3 round score was +38. Rikki Nordvik led the team with a +1, 73. She was followed by Leigha Devine 74, Maeve Rossi 76, Lucrezia Rossettin 81, and Nicole Ewing 84. Rossi was the teams top individual, finishing T13.
