The Womens team will tee it up at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek on John's Island, SC starting Monday. The 54 hole event features 2 Top 20 teams in #10 Florida and #17 UCF. The B1G is well represented with #26 Purdue, #35 Michigan State, #37 Maryland, #67 Illinois, #68 Nebraska, #69 Wisconsin, #95 Penn State. and #100 Rutgers. Overall it's a large and fairly strong field with 17 teams entered.

Rutgers will send out their regular 5 in Leigha Devine, Rikke Nordvik, Cathi Graf, and the Rossettin sisters, Lucrezia and Lorena. It does not appear RU will have anyone playing as an individual. Devine will be looking to pick up where she left off 2 weeks ago when she set program records with lowest round under Par, a 7 Under 65, and lowest 54 hole score, an 11 Under 205. The team also set a team record with a score of 851 for 54 holes.

This starts a stretch of 6 tourneys in 7 weeks. After this event, the team will travel to Hawaii, California, host the Rutgers Invitational, Ohio, and finish up with the B1G Championship April 19-21 in Maryland.

Led by Leigha Devine's 3 Under 69, Rutgers, with a team 291 (+3) is tied with NC State for 5th place after Round 1. Lucrezia Rossettin shot Even Par 72, followed by Rikke Nordvik and Lorena Rossettin with 75's and Cathi Graf with a 76. Emily James, playing as an individual, shot 78.

This is a nice start for the team as they are 15th ranked in the 17 team field. Devine ended the round T3, 2 strokes behind Isabel Sy from Illinois.

In today's 2nd Round, Rutgers made a move into 3rd Place at the end of the day. It's going to be tough holding off 2 Top 20 teams within 2 strokes but the team is playing well for the 2nd tourney in a row. Rutgers was led by Leigha Devine and Lucrezia Rossettin with 1 Under 71's. Individually Devine (-4) stands T4 and Rossettin (-1) T10. Only 12 of 104 players are under par. Rikke Nordvik (T27) shot Even Par, Cathi Graf and Lorena Rossettin are T60 after shooting 76 and 77 respectively. Emily James, playing as an individual, shot an 82 and stands T95.

2. #67 Illinois........................-4
3, #100 RUTGERS................+5

The Top 4 will be paired in tomorrows Final.

It wasn't a great final round for the Women's Team shooting a 9 Over 297, droppoing 5 spots to 8th. All things considered a positive result for a team, as I mentioned earlier, who came in 15th of the 17 teams participating. Rikke Nordvik (T13) led the team with a 2 Under 70. Leigha Devine (T16) shot a 6 Over 78, Lucrezia Rossettin (T34) a 79, Cathi Graf (T50) a 74, and Lorena Rossettin (T53) a 74. Emily James (98), playing as an individual, shot 82.

Final Top 8

1. #35 Michigan St..............-4
2. #61 NC State...................+1
3. #26 Purdue......................+7
T4. #17 UCF..........................+9
T4. #67 Illinois.....................+9
6. #10 Florida.......................+11
7. #48 Miami........................+12
8. #100 Rutgers..................+14

Other BIG10 Finishes

T10. #37 Maryland..............+24
T10. #68 Nebraska..............+24
15. #95 Penn St....................+34
16. #69 Wisconsin...............+37

The new rankings come out tomorrow. RU may be close to climbing out of the B1G cellar.

Heeding the call to "Go West Young Women", the team will play in Hawaii next week, then stop off for another event in California the week after before returning for The Rutgers Invitational in April.

The team has made a big jump in the rankings, improving their position by 11 places to #89. This is a 24 place improvement since the beginning of the Spring portion of the season when they were #113. It also enabled them to move from 14th to 12th in the B1G, passing #97 Iowa and #103 PSU. B1G #'s 10 and 11 are Indiana at #73 and Wisconsin #74.

Unlike the men's team who has 2, with 5 events remaining they still have a lot of golf left to play.
