The team faces a huge field with 22 teams entered. Headlining the field is #12 Pepperdine, followed by #51 Colorado State. #87 Rutgers is the 6th highest ranked team. There are 2 teams right in front of RU in #82 UC-Davis and #84 Cal Poly so there is a chance to move up. When the Spring Season started RU was ranked #113 so they have been moving in the right direction.

Rutgers will most likely go with the regular lineup in Leigha Devine, Rikke Nordvik, Cathi Graf, Lucrezia and Frosh Lorena Rossettin. The Frosh played well last week but this team needs more than 2 or once in a while, 3 to play well at the same time if they have a hope of continuing to move up.

For the first 2 rounds, RU will be paired with #82 UC-Davis, #106 BYU, and #124 Northern Arizona. Rutgers has no one playing as an individual.

After the 1st Round Rutgers stands tied for 5th with #12 Pepperdine after shooting a team 293 (+5). Rutgers was led by Leigha Devine's 3 Under 69. Her round, which included 5 Birdies and 2 Bogeys, has her Tied for 2nd Place. Rutgers was 3rd entering their last hole but almost the entire team struggled (1 Birdie, 3 Bogeys and 1 Dbl Bogey) on their final individual hole. That's why, with shotgun starts, it's tough to sometimes hard to tell exactly where a team stands.

Following Devine, Cathi Graf shot Even Par 72. Rikke Nordvik shot a +2, 74 and both Rossettin sisters Shot 76. The team was somewhere in the Top 4 for the majority of the round but that finish hurt.

Top 5 After Round 1.

1. #51 Colorado State..............-5
2. #103 Fresno State...............-3
3. #84 Cal Poly.........................+2
4. #95 Nevada.........................+3
T5. #87 RUTGERS....................+5
T5, #12 Pepperdine.................+5

Round 2 is under way.

What do you do when you Double Bogey your last hole of the 1st Round? If you're Leigha Devine, you go out and Eagle your first hole of Round 2. The round was suspended with Devine on her 18th hole where she currently leads the tourney by 1 stroke at 4 Under.

The majority of players are on their 16th-18th holes. At the moment, Rutgers is tied for 4th with #99 Washington State and #85 Sacramento State. At -1, #51 Colorado State leads by 6 strokes.

At the moment, instead of seeding based on position, it appears the teams will play Round 3 in the same order as the first 2 rounds.

In today's final Rutgers shot a +8 296 to go along with 295 and 296 their first 2 rounds. In doing so RU dropped from T4 to 8th out of 21. 2nd round leader, RU's Leigha Devine, shot a +1. 73 dropping from 1st to a T2, 2 strokes behind. It's a shame she didn't come away with her 2nd career win BUT T2 out of 116 players who started yesterday is still a huge accomplishment.

Only 1 other RU golfer finished the 3 rounds in the Top 50. Cathi Graf finished +10 and a T49, Rikke Nordvik and Lucrezia Rossettin were T56 with a +11. Lorena Rossettin was T62 at +12.

Final 8

1. #51 Colorado State............+3
2. #82 Cal Poly........................+7
3. #12 Pepperdine..................+14
4. #85 Sacramento State.....+17
5. #153 Cal - Riverside...........+21
6. #99 Washington State.....+22
7. #103 Fresno State.............+23
8. #87 RUTGERS....................+24

For a team that was making strides improving their national ranking by 26 places since the Spring part of the season started, this is not the result you'd want.

Next up is the Rutgers Invitational at the RUGC April 5-6. Among the teams scheduled to participate are Seton Hall, Monmouth, St Johns, Georgetown, and Lehigh.

So the latest D1 rankings are out. Neither the Men nor the Women changed position.

The Women are #87 (out of 276) and 12th in the B1G. Leigha Devine (above) is the highest ranked at #305 out of 1,915.
